About getting Ss rank in Colossal titan

After watching this video, I have come to the conclusion that you don't have to kill the colossal titan. You can just jump down and kill 150 titans... In the attendance, there was an option to kill 10 titans to finish the attendance. Why would there be an option to do that if you couldn't kill the colossal titan?

You have to kill him for the titans to show up.

I fell down once but I believe it just took me to the map right before the colossal titan. I think you have to fight it in order for the walls to get broken and have titans spawning.
