Buccaneer

Buccanneer weapon

Hi fellow buccaneers. I am new to the game and I am currently Lv.164. All of my equips are clean at the moment. I would like to know if it would be better to buy a scrolled fafnir perry talon or to scroll and enhance my own. I see some in free market ranging from 210-220 attack scrolled and enhanced. I am not sure which scrolls were used on them. If I do scroll my own I would most likely use the 70% ones during a spell trace event and then enhance it to about 7 stars. I only have about 300m to spend. Also out of curiosity what attack would a perfect fafnir perry talon be because I am not sure how much the star enhancements add to attack since I haven't tried them yet.

Since you're so tight on money @boxer , I would suggest holding off on using any cubes on your weapon for now (even on a clean one you want to perfect), and instead use all your cubes on your Gold Maple Leaf Emblem or level 100 secondary weapon (wrist armour) to tier them up to unique / legendary.

Go ahead and get a fafnir talon now and 70% trace it and enhance it as @tricks122 mentioned. Stock up on clean slates and wait for fever time to scroll a knuckle with 15% traces (they do become 25% during fever) and try to get 4-5 to pass; BUT, before you go and buy innocence scrolls, I suggest you compare the cost of a new clean fafnir knuckle VS x number of innocence 50% scrolls. At the moment in windia, buying a new knuckle is WAY cheaper than buying innocence scrolls (hence why you should hold off on cubing a weapon).

If you become an Alchemist (a crafting profession), you are also able to fuse to items of the same name to produce a clean, average version of the item. This can make it so that if you buy two fafnir knuckles to scroll, and neither of them gets enough traces to pass during fever, then you can fuse the two bad ones together for a new clean fafnir knuckle and try again.

After getting enough 15% (25% during fever) traces to pass, all it really is, is spamming clean slate scrolls then using more traces. Feel free to use Lucky Day scrolls (+10% success rate) or Safety scrolls (saves slot on scroll failure) if you happen to get them during events or have spare reward points, but you shouldn't go and buy them from others.

I could do some brief calcs to tell you how much att a knuckle with all 70% traces and another with 15%
traces, each with 10 stars, should have if you like. Only if you want me to though.

Good luck with your scrolling!

@boxer: For 15%'s, it's generally best to get a good amount of Diligence(I'd recommend level 100, but that can be lengthy; otherwise, get as high as you can manage), and then toss 15%'s on a clean Knuckle; if 4~5(At least) don't pass, Innocence Scroll it(Which resets all scrolls used on the item and removes any bonuses from scrolls) and try again. This will be a LOT cheaper than trying to Clean Slate(Removes a failed scroll slot) 7~8 slots; it's statistically unlikely to get 4~5 15% Scrolls to succeed over seven attempts, but if Innocent Scrolls are as cheap as they used to be then it's a worthy investment. Once you pass a decent amount, you can Clean Slate the rest; take advantage of Spell Fever when possible for this, but try to stock up in advance, as supplies definitely go up during Spell Fever and can cost you a lot more(I believe 15%'s go to 25% during Spell Fever, which is a significant boost).

If you have spare Reward Points, you can also use them for certain scrolls; there's one that may still be in the Reward Shop that ensured a Scroll wouldn't take a slot if it failed(Although it was consumed on a success as well), which isn't bad. It can allow you to make very slow progress on a perfect Knuckle, granted, buying Cubes with your Reward Points will give FAR better returns. If you have the spare points though, it's something to consider.

A perfect weapon takes a while to make, but it's definitely worth it; you just need something to keep you satisfied until the meantime, and your plan sounds like a good one. Really work on that Diligence level; it'll help you long term, and you'd be amazed at how useful it can be to both save you Mesos in the long term and allow you to scroll other items more easily for characters(Not to mention scroll things other than your Knuckle, assuming they aren't using Special Scrolls).

Thanks guys! You've been really helpful. I appreciate it! Ok, so my plan is to scroll a weapon with 70%+enhance and use it temporarily while working on one with 15% scrolls. Landing 15% is gonna be tough but I will see what I can do.

Yeah. Totally listen to @tricks122. If I were you I'd probably buy a trash Talon for about 50m and scroll it very cheaply. Once you start to get the funds you need to scroll for better just get a new one and scroll with 15%'s. I wouldn't recommend keeping the old one though because that would mean that you would have to was some CSS on it. Anyways, welcome to the Buccaneer community. We're few in number but we stick out for one another. Good luck my man.

First off, welcome to the game! If only you weren't Scanian... my Buccaneer has 100 Diligence, which offers a success rate bonus on scrolls, and anyone is free to use it. I'd heavily recommend leveling Diligence to some degree, since it helps your success rate by a decent amount, especially when you're doing lower percent scrolls, where any extra odds in your favor work well(For example, I'm fairly certain that during Spell Fever, 70%'s will become a 100% success rate past a certain Diligence level).

I'd suggest that you pick up a Fafnir Knuckle and 'trash' scroll it. By this, I mean scroll it with 70%'s and Enhance it; afterwards, either buy a second one or save up enough to Innocence and try to 'perfect' scroll you old one(15%'s on every slot, with two Hammers). Buying scrolled items is generally expensive, and there's a lot of flexibility on prices; you could buy one that's pre-scrolled, but you'd have to calculate the theoretical probability of you obtaining something with similar stats and the cost, then pretend someone asks you the question "Are you feeling lucky, punk?". I don't think there's a definite way to calculate what scrolls were used on items(It gets complicated after Enhancements or if different scroll types get used; if someone only used a certain scroll, it's easy). That being said, people generally try to sell badly scrolled(Relatively speaking) at a profit, so I'd really say making your own is better in the long run; the exception is if you happen to find someone who's selling one cheap, and you don't feel lucky, in which case it may be worth it to buy.

Really, it's best to get a 'decent' weapon(So tossing 70%'s plus up to 10 Enhancements, maybe less depending on funds) and then work on a perfect one. A good weapon is absolutely vital, but you're going to get stone-walled at a point regardless; this is a good time to begin working on a perfect weapon for yourself as an upgrade. Star Force adds more Attack based on the weapon at the time of Enhancing(Which is why you want to fully scroll all 9 Slots with 15%'s before Enhancing on a perfect Knuckle), but even at lower numbers at least 5 Stars is a good starting point with little cost.
