Critical Ring or Resistance/Lilin for Mechanic?
Basically, makin a mech and ive still got a couple of untraded explorer critical rings, was just wondering, what are criticals like for mechanics? i've watched a few videos, and i see crits pop up every now and then, but it looks like its just the 5% passive crit everyone gets.
Basically, is 10% extra chance to do 150% damage better than 3stats 30hp/mp 3w.atk?
what is the mathematics like? 10% to do 150% = 5% dpm increase?
i'm no mathematician, my forte lies in the media and english department
way i figure is, out of 10 shots, i'll turn 100% (regular) damage into 10, and 150% (crit) damage into 15
10 hits = 10+10+10+10+10+10+10+10+10+15 = 105? so i'd be doing 105% dpm?
i'm not sure whether the 3stats and 3atk can match that, (especially with SE)
interpret this thread however you will, it's just, i can only trade these rings once, and i want to re-confirm that it's a worthwhile trade, anyone who's good with numbers feel free to go nuts here ;P

i made an ice/lightning and an archer before 4th job was even around (Archlightnin and this DiverseFire) and i made a Bucc when they came out, 2nd last on the dpm chart, i play classes for what i think are fun, and mechanic attracts me that way, that is all
OT i forgot crit ring had 2 atk on it! i definately think the 10% crit is better than 2 atk, at like lvl 170, 2 atk is 126 on my range, which is around a 1% increase

good question, lol well imo, the crit ring would be better
+3 dex and +3 str will help as well, depending on if you wanna go strless or not.
if you get the resistance ring, and are not planning to go strless, then it's like +3atk +6 primay stat since you can save the 3 aps to put into dex.
ultimately, i think its up to you if you wanna see more pink numbers, but i wouldn't say that it would give you a higher dpm per say.
with the resistance ring, +3atk +6 prime stat is like +4atk, and the crit ring is +2atk +10% crit. so is 2atk>10% crit? maybe but i dont think so
