lets put it this way. Canonically speaking, in the past Aran was male, but in the present, s/he is female... I believe Nexon is trying to tell us that Aran is transgendered.

JMS first came up with the idea of the Silent Crusade, and GMS got that...However, KMS made their own Silent Crusade, and KMS's Silent Crusade only included the black Mage storyline.

beacause of aran we have 3.5 male heroes and 1.5 female beacause nexon made him into half male half female
