Maple leaves are a good way if you can get some buyers. Expect the prices to drop on leaves over time so don't hold on to a pile of leaves too long.

As for your 2 year break, take time to learn the prices in the market. Actually, now isn't a good time, but try to walk around the FM. FM 22-FM 1. Walk through the whole place at least 2 times a day for 2 weeks. You'll learn most of the basic prices.
Take screenshot of items you think are good merchs, compare the prices of the screenshots as time passes. You'll notice different prices for items and what sells and what doesn't sell.

You'll figure out what are items to merch.

In this essence, you'll learn how to fish, so no one will have to give you fish anymore. You can make your own money. Good luck. Windia's economy is the best out of all the worlds in my opinion. As a merchant in Windia, I love this freemarket the best.

as other said no such thing as to say you should merch this. Think about it, if everyone try to do the copy there would be sellers but no buyers which renders the item worthless.

Ahh, I see. And I wasn't specifically saying that I was going to merch one item.. I was just wondering what was pretty popular around the FM at this time. Also, thanks for the advice, really appreciate it.

But serious answer: There's no such thing as "merch this item." The market doesn't work like that. If there was a magical item to merch, then... well.. the market just doesn't work like that. If it did, the economy would be so unstable and prices would just keep fluctuating like mad due to people saying "omg merch this item." And they would all be sold out, causing inflation.
