Bishops can also be used to actually train rather than merely leech guys... And if you decent fund it they can really be fun
^ This. The real queston breaks down to a couple things.
1. How much do you want to train vs bossing?
2. How much do you actualy want to fund your character?
3. Which sounds more fun?

If you want to boss more, I/L is gonna have the easier time funding wise just because of Elemental Decrease. If you want to train, the HS hyper for extra exp and puts you in a better spot as a Bishop.

Funding and which one you prefer to play makes a large impact as well. I've bounced between all three explorer mages (yay Open Advancements) And I personally just have the most fun as a bishop but the funds to boss as one is definitely a pretty high ceiling to reach.

If you're loaded with lots of money, fund a I/L, if not, play a bishop.

If you have a mercedes at 120 and you get the bishop hyper skill that gives 20% exp you're now at 1.85x exp base so that makes for easier training in later levels.

Pros...
Bishop: HS
IL: Decent range 4th job mob move.

Cons..
Bishop: People complain if they move and miss HS cast.
IL: Chain Lightning not as godly as Lumi's Reflection.
