I cant open the game

Hi. How are you? I spent my day off work just hanging out with a buddy of mine at his house. We played a lot of Smash 64, because we really need some practice if we're gonna place above last in the next local tournament.

Anyway, I digress. I've been having a bit of an issue when I try to open up this game. Since I got my new laptop a few months ago, I haven't been able to boot up the game via gamelauncher, because it didn't install with the rest of the files. I probably would have done something about it then, but after I installed it on here, I've played the game a single time. That time was about a week ago when my friend pestered me to sign in. I had zero problems playing the game; I just had to use the website to open the client.

Now, a week later, I can no longer start the game. I tried playing for the second time in X amount of months yesterday, and that annoying af "can't connect bc firewall or server check or some baloney" popup appeared and the game refused to load. I figured I'd give it a day or so before I tried again, and the same thing happened. I tried un- & re-installing, but that didn't fix anything. What else can I do? I literally just want to sign in and claim a kick-arse IGN for a Bucc/Shade/TB, then sign out. Get him to like 2nd job, tops.

tl;dr: I can't load the game. "We are unable to connect blah blah blah server check or firewall, blah blah". Tried reinstalling; nothing. Any suggestions?
