There's nothing wrong with Lenovo. That whole "malware" scandal was overblown by the news and frightened people who didn't understand the tech and what was actually going on. As you can see in this Basil thread, no one can name the software at the center of the controversy. Superfish was a vulnerable program and Lenovo with Microsoft were very quick to fix the problem.

Going against all the other recommendations in this thread, I will not recommend a Lenovo laptop because I feel there are better options that fit the answers you provided to my questions. I will note that your friend's gaming requirements are at odds with her portability requirements. For now, I have listed four recommendations, split into either portability focused options or gaming focused options. The portability focused options are both Ultrabooks that weigh less than 3.5 lbs, but have limited gaming performance - League runs at Medium, Skyrim and Guild Wars 2 run at Low. The two gaming focused options I listed are actually relatively lightweight as far as gaming laptops are concerned. As an example, the Lenovo Y50 is 5.3lbs. The games you listed in the OP will run at their maximum graphic settings on both of these gaming laptops.

Thank you so much <3! I truly appreciate the time and effort you took to pull these together for me and lawd at the 450 dollar off coupon? I may lean towards the omen... <3 but, with my friend's responsibilities, it may make more sense to buy the dell xps 13. Decisions, decisions... I'll study her behavior a little more to determine which laptop would make the best surprise. Thanks again

@Burning
What country/state do you live in? U.S.
Would you like to save money or do you want to spend as much of your budget as possible? I want the best that I can buy with money available. I don't want anything left.
Can you order online? If you cannot order online, what stores are around you? Yes

How much hard drive space do you want? 256/128GB SSD is fine
Are there any other games you play or want to play? I'd have to ask her.
What other programs do you use? Microsoft Office, blackboard, student programs

Do you have a preferred laptop weight? less than ~3.5 pounds
Do you have a preferred screen size? 13"
Is battery life important? Yes
To where and how often will it be moved? School, work, home, commuting
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll look at Lenevo but they're really suspicious atm

Y50.
Lenovo did have some spyware on it, but they've offered programs to remove it since then. They apparently didn't know and tried to fix it for the consumers.
Just don't buy from their site, I heard shipping is butts.
Honestly this laptop runs everything so smucking well it makes me cry.

Answer as many questions as you are willing. The information you provide will narrow down the potential computers I look at.
Lenovo Y50. Thats honestly like the best laptop out there for a budget. Comes with decent specs (2 gig card, some ram, strong processor) Thats pretty much all you need. That probably won't even hit the limit cause Lenovo always has those online deals that shave off a few hundred dollars. She can grab a few nice accessories like a laptop bag, mouse, etc to go along with it.
Do not buy Lenovo. They had adware installed on their computers. They don't deserve any money after that shady practice.
