Looking for some new anime / shows
Preferably something not really well known and has a good storyline behind it, as well as voice acting. I don't care what genre, as long as its good. Any suggestions appreciated.

Shingeki No kyoujin( new anime this season its base of a manga that currently has 44 chapters its gory, has action, good characters and the plot is interesting too) So far base on this first episode it seems it'll follow the manga and if it does, it'll be one of the best anime in recent years.
Fate/zero (prequel to fate/stay night also the story telling and characters are way better than the /stay night anime the animation is better too)
Kara no Kyoukai(A movie series it has 7(maybe more forgot the exact number) each of them are pretty long the guy wrote the story for /stay night and fate/zero wrote the story for this too its great)
Mahou Shoujo Madoka( Don't get fool by the cover and title the story is actually very dark and f up after episode 2-3 it only has 12 episodes sadly)
Phantom: Requeim for the Phantom (Great plot, tragic scenes, a true tear-jerker at the end)

A good shows a good show, no matter what type it is, anime, history, action, drama, cartoon, reality show. It doesn't really matter.

Darker than Black Season one. Don't bother with the other season.
Suisei no Gargantia is good so far. Only 2 episodes into it though, so I don't really want to praise it too much...

The Tales of Symphonia + the Abyss OVA (idk if they count as popular...personally I think the Tales series is underrated); the anime is indeed based off of the games but there's a lot of missing elements from them (due to obvious reasons)

I used to watch that show when I was a kid. It was alot better at age 8 than 19 lol.

In terms of a good TV show, watch White Collar. They're in 5 seasons but I've only just finished 4. It's so godamn addicting!
