On contant 2x it took about 3 weeks of daily easy mag to get 10 souls. On normal its about one a run.
In my experience, if you have some extra %droprate, they drop quite frequently. Good luck
Be aware, the chance to get his soul shard from easy mode is quite low.
Yes, easy Magnus drops soul shards. There are no prequests to get to easy mode besides doing a little bit of NPC talking. As for range, err, that would depend on your class. A 100k range should probably be more than enough.
