Link Skills Problem?

Is there a problem with the link skills? it doesn't seem to stay on the character that i chose to link it with...
I've experienced this with my wild hunter that has the phantom instinct... after sometime of playing, i disconnected from the game and when i got back the link skill was not there... but when i checked my phantom it says it's currently linked to my WH.. do i have to keep linking these skills every time i want to play? this problem also occur to my bro's mercedes link skill? can anybody shed some light
