HappyVille Maplestory

What has happened to this game?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MX3m2m5qByU

It used to be so great.

Now it just seems that the events put in are reskins of older events. No effort or love, just mindlessly putting out new content.
Maplestory is missing its cozy feeling.

Meh, post your thoughts below if you want to~

New classes are OP, the removing of bigfoot, challenges in bossing, the potential system.
of course I was guessing, which is why I said it's somewhere around 2006
they may have worked together before that, but they still haven't merged into one company, so you couldn't spend nx on maplestory before that
No. They have been together all the time. Wizet codes, Nexon publishes. They would have been noting without eachother.

Serious answer..?
Nexon has apparently decided the game has about run its course and is simply churning the content trying to make as many sales of NX as possible before the dwindling playerbase goes completely away.

By churning the "class of the month" content with rehashed graphics, skills, storylines and so on, they hope to sell lots of NX as people buy "max dmg" for their new character, just in time for the next "class of the month" when they'll have to start all over again buying NX for that one, whatever it is.

The lack of policing the game against hackers is also evidence of this. It costs them money to hire people both to patrol the game and to program protections into the code, and neither of those activities make them any short-term money. It's unlikely they'd recover the costs of improved patrolling and programming before they have to turn the servers off for lack of players and sales, so none of that will ever be done.

And yes, it's pretty sad that they've gotten to this point.

"Nothing isn't as much fun as it was when we were kids"
somewhere around 2006
I can tell that you're just guessing. Nexon and Wizet have worked together the whole time, and they still do.

I miss the days when maplestory wasn't only grinding and who has the higher range and people would actually team up to do bosses and I miss the social aspect. I remember and as gay as this might sound before my parent divorced back in 07' maple was like my second home when I got pissed and couldn't put up with them yelling I would just go to my room hop on maple and talk to my friends(some irl, some not) but anyways I miss having that tight nit kinda feeling in maple. Now it is all about "You suck I have like triple your range." and all that.

@Exinity: That's true to an extent. Just that thanks to potential, all the KSing jerks aren't just restricted to Sins and Mages anymore.

But as long as the current generation of Maplers remain greedy and selfish, nothing's going to change.
@OrionTempest: See,but its like that EVERYWHERE in the game, its not the people im hanging with, its what i see everywhere.I'm not stressing, that's just how its been for the last 1 or 2 years.
Then once again, it boils down to the current horrible community, not potential. Like I said before, I've seen games with even more OP systems, to the point where my gf could solo bosses that gave most teams trouble(before it shut down a few months ago). But the community was still awesome and helpful.

@Exinity: Then you're hanging with the wrong people if they'll only let you in if you spend thousands on cubes. And you only have to pay if you have the mentality of "OMG I NEED MORE %STAT AND I NEED IT NOW!11!1"

I just play for fun and slowly improve over time, there's no point in stressing over people better than you.

Also, I've seen games that pretty much had potential on Cash Shop outfits, including +Attack Speed and %Boss. Everyone still got along and worked together, so once again, it boils down to GMS' awful community.
Other way around,Cubing is pretty much what crapped on and killed the game.
I'd like to hear your reasoning for this. It allows everyone to get better through crafting and hunting their own equips, while spenders get better gear faster (Like in virtually every other free MMO).
I think this game is great. It's just the way people are to one another is what's ruining the fun for everyone.
This, so much this. It's not "lame events" or "OP classes" or even Potential that wreck the game (As most people seem to think), it's the fact that a good 75% or more of GMS players would willingly lie, cheat, steal, and backstab others just to get a little bit ahead.
Two things
Hacks and NX
Those are not something new. Hacks and NX have always been a part of the game.

I remember when events were actually events (There would be long periods of time when it was just "normal" Maplestory- there were no events going on). Now events are just reskinned events from the past (even the weapons look exactly the same).

But then again, it's a brilliant marketing ploy on their part. They know people are more likely to play if there are "events" or "limited edition items" in circulation.
More players=More successful game (Usually).

I think they should take out nx clothe and stuff and keep the cubing and scrolling
