Kinda surprised this hasn't shown up in /90/ yet, but I'll chalk it up to too many of you not having seen or sticking with Ping Pong. Rather than wait until next year for a physical, dual-audio copy, you could always marathon it now, too. Helps inform your hype.

I think Summer was kind of weak, well comparatively it is since this season is so great. I can easily list 10 shows that I find acceptable to be on the top 5 lists this season
Glad Ping Pong is getting some recognition. I was honestly kinda afraid that it would just fade into obscurity; thank god that doesn't seem to be happening.
Also as for Tokyo Ravens, I honestly was surprised when it didn't turn out to be the trainwreck I expected it to be. I'll admit that the first few episodes and the CGI were godawful and I was considering dropping the show right then and there, but somehow, I'm kinda glad I didn't. I think it was [i]okay[/i], which is surprising for an LN adaptation.
@Irony For sure, there are several shows hanging right below my top 5. If one of the shows on the list slips a bit, I could see something like the stuff you mentioned making it on there. From what I can see, mostly everyone likes Shigatsu and Fate tho.
I didn't watch ao haru ride last season, but hanayamata was a qt show lol. I never finished it, but the dance in the OP was rly catchy. Did they ever get to perform? I stopped when that one girl got stage fright at the festival thing.

The first episode drove a lot of people off, because it was badly edited sound wise when it aired, and for the second half of the episode all talking was drowned out by the overly loud music. It was a pretty good show though.
@xoqtprincessxo: Yea this season is really good. It has pretty much everything which is why top 5 lists usually have 2-3 shows that vary for diff people
example I love shirobako but on my list i'd put inou battle, or someone else would say amaburi
sora no method shows great potential too
to add more to your list, hanayamata & ao haru ride were the best from last season. some may argue nozaki kun is up there

Fate gets bogged down by exposition. The latest ep was really good though. The best of the current season probably ranks about like this:
1. Shigatsu
2. Shirobako
3. Bahamut / Fate
4. Parasyte
I'm behind on GReco but it's supposed to be good too. They're all very close though.
Outside of this season, which is really damn good, I can only really think of Mushishi, Ping Pong, Zankyou, Hana, Sekai Sef.uku, Jojo and Space Dandy.

Ping Pong and Mushishi aired in the same season, that's the only competition?
Year-wise it's tough because Summer was good

Ping pong was was very good. I can't say if it's AOTY yet, but it's one of the contenders.
