So I started with the water pokemon just now, and I was wondering what would get me through the game until I battle the elite four? What do you guys recommend?

So I started with the water pokemon just now, and I was wondering what would get me through the game until I battle the elite four? What do you guys recommend?

Just choose your favorites. The story mode is extremely easy.
My team would be..
my personal team up to the final battle was:
serperior
haxorus
galvantula
sigilyph
chandelure (<- this guy didnt help much)
excadrill
for early in the game, i recommend getting some pokemon that you will use for at least 2 cities. my team for both black and white changed like this: i had starter, lillipup, and patrat for first couple towns, then added panpour at striaton. i grabbed a blitzle and a drilbur right after that. i caught a sigilyph to replace patrat. once i beat the 4th gym. my team stayed like that until i reached chargestone cave, where i ditched blitzle for joltik. i replaced herdier with a litwick when i got to celestial tower. as soon as i got surf, i went to mistralton cave to catch an axew. that is pretty much how i organized my team for the main story.
right now, my team is:
mienshao
bisharp
chandelure
starmie
galvantula
sigilyph
hmm get a ground-fire pokemon for those thunder and grass pokemon u may encounter
