A Guide to Elite Monster and Bosses
Elite Monsters spawn after you kill a bunch of the regular mobs in that map. (You must be within the level range of that map's mobs as the attacker to spawn the elite monster/boss)
Elite Monsters are bigger versions of the mobs in that map with more HP.
Elite Bosses are a shadowy adventurer monster. Doesn't drop anything, just initiates bonus stage once killed.
*Elite Monsters will disappear if you do not kill it fast enough
The important part of Elite Monsters is that every attacker will get his/her own drops.
If you attack an elite monster and someone else attacks an elite monster you will both get drops once it dies.
You cannot see/loot the other person's drops and he/she cannot see/loot yours. Multiples of the same item can drop as well.
You do not need to be in a party for this to work.
Notable drops include
Master Craftsman Cube
Cubic Blade
Chaos Cubic Blade
Safety Scroll
Golden Hammer 50%
Possibly other stuff too but I've never seen it.
Once an elite monster dies one of two messages will pop up.
"The dark energy is still here, it's making the place quite grim"
or
"You feel something in the dark energy"
The second of which means that the elite boss might be the next spawn.
Once you kill enough Elite Monsters, the Elite Boss will appear instead. There will be a giant red warning message, the screen will blacken then the map will reappear with a darker tint and an Elite Boss + 2 Elite Monsters will spawn. Upon killing the Elite Boss a bonus stage will start. There are 2 possible bonus stages
Bonus Stage #1
Mimics fly around throwing down stuff that you loot by touching.
Bonus Stage #2
Mimics are on platforms. Hit with normal attack. Stuff spills out. Loot the stuff.
The most important items from bonus stages are the purple boxes in the yellow bubbles. Those are your unique on reveal equips/ CSS 10% / prots/ epic pot 50% / chaos of goodness 30% /etc etc.
If you are going to farm elite monster/bosses, don't try doing it solo (unless you can kill everything on the map within each spawn interval then go for it). If you see an elite monster, attack it (be courteous and don't use your most laggy attack... doing 1 damage will still get you the drops you would get for doing 50m damage).
I hope to see giant elite monster farming groups in every world where one extremely funded person with lots of drop boosters ( cough @Green4Ever ) kills elite monsters while 50 other people attack it once allowing a bunch of people to loot worthwhile drops.
So if any really funded/pro people in any world with a set of drop rate + equips wants to kill elite monsters while 50 of us mooch off you that'd be nice.

@alexinos725: I'd like to believe this but it doesn't work when I was at Colossus Innard, the monster there are around level 160+
I heard it's 40 though?
In any case, where would a level 200+ farm then? Especially 230+
I don't think there's any monster around level 200 range? o-o
To you and the other person who asked, it's the same as event mobs. As soon as you're any level above 151, all mobs lvl 151+ count. So, at lvl 220 or 250, it's still any mob lvl 151+.
Can you add that if you don't kill elite monster (not boss) within certain time (around 6-7minutish)
it disappears even tho the player is keep attaking him.
It happened to me at cygnus area B where elite monster had too much hp to deal with against
my nooby lvl165 demon slayer that it just disappeared in the middle of fighting.
done
@dudestevexx: too many mobs and things to get? How good are the actual chances of getting the aforementioned good items.
Small? But since everyone gets their own separate drops it raises the chance of an elite monster giving somebody something
No, idk what the cap is but the minimum level you can be within the monster that's higher than you is 20 levels so if you're hunting a lvl 60 monster you have to be lvl 40 to spawn a monster/boss.

Very nice, thank you!
If possible, would you also be kind enough to compile a list of areas where these things don't spawn? For example, I believe MP3 doesn't have these Elite stuff, or that I'm just not training there long enough to encounter one.
All of World Tour/NLC has usually been excluded from everything that was normal in Maple, I'm not sure if they don't spawn there for certain though
Very nice, thank you!
@dudestevexx: oooh okay. That'd be cool if bonus was individual.
Doesn't matter you can't solo bonus stage.. I think
Does each person get their own drops for the elite boss too or just the monster
Elite Boss doesn't drop anything. Bonus stage drops are supposedly free for all (KMS just had them for each individual in their latest tespia patch)
Does each person get their own drops for the elite boss too or just the monster
Normal weapon and armor bubbles have a chance of being unique as well, not just purple chests.
Probably. I don't loot those often enough to know
I heard elite bosses only spawn when you kill mobs 20 levels within your level range.
So what do I kill for elite bosses when I'm 221..?
Warrior Grounds? I know a 228 BaM who could spawn elite monster/bosses there.

@dudestevexx Oh ok, well thanks anyways
So can I do this on any mob at any level?
For example can a level 120 Demon Slayer spam Demon Cry at Flaming Golems and still have the same chance as a level 20 Demon Slayer to spawn an Elite Boss?
Whoops forgot to include the part where you need to be within the level range of the map's mobs to spawn the elite monster/boss by killing...
But no.

There's 3 bonus. One is with the mimics flying and dropping items. Another is just the raining items but no mimics. The last one is the box hitting one.
@dudestevexx: Haha, I don't usually grind. I was only doing it since I needed some summer coins.
I think all of Windia would appreciate an effortless chance at getting cubic blades/chaos cubic blades/master craftsman cubes/golden hammer 50%'s/sunset dews/reindeer milks :]
Nice guide. Thanks! Now I understand why my kanna in the map got no drops. Next time, I'll make sure my kanna hits the boss.
Everyone stalk CherryTigers and get free drops (pls equip lvl 1 equips and use 1st job mob skills pls)
Nice guide. Thanks! Now I understand why my kanna in the map got no drops. Next time, I'll make sure my kanna hits the boss.
