Why are people getting called bandwagon-ers?

How do you know people choose the "popular" class because everyone else did? You don't. For all you know they chose it because they did some research and saw what they liked...

It's not the same, but it's comparable. Maybe people want a stronger class in order to boss... just like people want better equips in order to boss.

We have a difference of opinion, end of story.
I won't heed to your way of thinking, nor will you for mine.
There's nothing wrong with that though, opinions are great. =]
Then let me reiterate this, "What kind of gear do you equip your character with? The gear that makes you weaker or do you try to get the gear that makes you a little bit stronger? Probably stronger. Why is that? Is it because you want a strong character? You're a banwagon-er!"
Gear is not a requirement to play maplestory, but in the normal progression of the game gearing up is required if you so wish to fight boss monsters in this day and age due to power creep.

If your character regardless of revamps currently have decent gear you can take out easy zak, normal zak, and normal hillia. I should know, my Xenon has no level 140 gear. This is not a bandwagon to try and get better equipments, this is a a requirement for bossing in this game. Picking a revamped character for nothing more than upped power is not the same as gearing up in the game.

One is a requirement due to how the game is currently maintained, the other is not really a requirement.
Actually it has EVERYTHING to do with how you feel about it.

"Omg did you here x class is getting so and so and now they're top dps after x revamp guys" - definitely a bandwagon

And regardless of how you feel about it, if you're picking a class purely on how strong it is after a revamp, you are a bandwagoner. -wrong because it's YOUR informative decision. Not everyone else making the decision for you.
"Not everyone else making the decision for you"

No, but the revamp and the increased class power IS making the decision for you, and no doubt many other MS players who choose said class. My main is a WH, my sub is a Xenon. Xenon's are extremely popular but I didn't choose to sub-main my Xenon based on anything to do with how the class operated damage and skill wise. I made one along with Demon Avenger and Beast Tamer and once I got my BT to 70 I decided to try my Xenon out, and fell in love with it.

My choice had nothing to do with how powerful the class was, where as your example clearing IS using how powerful a class is.

Still a bandwagon.

Back then it was said a lot too. When a lot of people wanted to play as Dual Blade, people bandwagon-ed to that class. Most of the time, a lot of people will just go one new class for awhile then hop onto the next new class that comes out. It's something that happens all the time. Although, if you're playing a new class just to be overpowered. Then, pretty much those people aren't good at trying to make themselves strong with hard work. </3

Please keep note that I said, "if", thanks.
Then I'm sorry, you clearly don't know the definition of the word.
I don't? Apparently neither do you, holier than thou.

The fact that the class is undergoing a revamp doesn't make it a bandwagon when people go to it, it's the fact that "Omg did you here x class is getting so and so and now they're top dps after x revamp guys" and than you see the truckload rush towards said class IS a bandwagon.

And regardless of how you feel about it, if you're picking a class purely on how strong it is after a revamp, you are a bandwagoner.

Cygnus Knights were revamped, and made stronger. I didn't feel the need to make one, if you did .. more power to you. But I'll stick with my NOT bandwagoned Wild Hunter.

@eloraaa:

"My friend made a marksman because they became really powerful after the revamp (not bandwagon)
A bandwagon is when you make a decision based on popularity/trend."

No, sorry. Popularity is just one factor, another is class strength. I can guarantee you DB's after the revamp will be repopulated due to how much stronger they get, which to me if you're looking for just class strength as a class choice .. makes you a bandwagoner.
Nonsense, Bandwagoning IS a thing .. or atleast was.

People bandwagoned Marksman because of the hyper skill that reduces snipe CD which was one of the main reasons I quit and deleted my MM. Was fun when no one cared about the class and it was a rare class to see.

Same with DKs recently, no one cared to go with them until most saw how good they'd become with the new revamp and all flocked to them aswell. Another class I had to quit and delete.
Bandwagon is a thing, but obviously most people are not using the word correctly. I'm sorry but I don't think you're using the word correctly.

Example:
My friend made a dk because everyone else is making them (bandwagon)
My friend made a marksman because they became really powerful after the revamp (not bandwagon)
A bandwagon is when you make a decision based on popularity/trend.
For new classes I don't even consider that a bandwagon. People don't know what bandwagon is. They automatically think a badwagon is something everyone goes to. However, that isn't the case for new classes. Bandwagon is when there are revamps or something going on and people go to that class for certain reasons. That's a bandwagon. When a new class comes out it can't be a bandwagon. Since it's brand new and obviously you are going want to try it out if it's available to you.
That's not really a bandwagon either. The only way it would be a bandwagon is if the person who went to the class only chose the class because it was the popular class, not because they thought it looked interesting or good to them.

Yup, this^

Trying out classes in a random spur of the moment thing, or trying out brand new classes .. fine.

Hearing about Marksman getting a CD reduction on snipe and snipe being increased in damage and deciding to go Marksman? Bandwagon.

No to be rude, but switching from class to class doesn't make you a bandwagon-er. Nor does wanting a new class because you think the class looks cool...

Because more than half the time they're fickled, from what I assumed. People who constantly switches class and changes constantly. They see the class, and assume instantly cool and awesome and they HAVE to have one, plays one for a couple of months before they quit and go onto a new main.

Which I honestly don't understand why everyone dislikes bandwagoner. It doesn't affect them personally. If you see a new class and want to try it out, go for it.

It's a pride thing. People don't like others playing "their" class. It's really dumb and childish though. People have a right to play w/e class for w/e reason they want to. Shouldn't be ridiculed for doing so either.
