Finding a Pickaxe
Hey Basil,
So I'm looking for a mining pickaxe. I've heard that you don't need a pickaxe in order to mine, but I have a couple of golden pickaxes in my inventory that I want to save for use on higher level veins. As it currently stands, my golden pickaxe is the default pickaxe and I don't want to burn durability mining common ores. Does anybody know where I can get a hold of a pickaxe? I've tried learning mining on a mule account, but I never got a pickaxe from it.

You could get a golden tool from the quest "Master Herbalist/Miner" by getting level 7 with your skill but that is no longer available. If you want to replace a golden tool I believe you can find another tool from somebody else who bought one before the revamp.
Otherwise, the only other way to find other tools ( [url=http://global.hidden-street.net/eq/weapons/pickaxe]wrench[/url] for mining, [url=http://global.hidden-street.net/eq/weapons/shovel]rake[/url] for herbalism) is by raising imps.
Yeah apparently you don't need a pickaxe anymore... (I spent a few hours searching for one, after I used a friend's for a while, because I lost mine, and then I saw this post) Sure enough I have one, its a skill now? I'm guessing... It is black and my mining level is past 7... Someone said at 7 it upgrades to gold? Nope.... Not for me at least... I have found one in a drop off a low lev monster two weeks ago on a diff character... So they should still be obtainable via trades, but they not needed..

I looked for the wrench you mentioned but couldn't find that either. But I am very tired maybe I didn't look for that very good... o.o
They're unattainable now. In previous coin shops you could buy the golden pickaxe/shovel, but not anymore. I know that if you raise an imp (no one does that anymore) you can get a wrench for mining and something else for herbalism.
You can't get them anymore.
Someone probably has one somewhere, because I know I do.
