Praise the Saekano
I know there has already been discussion about this show, but god it's so good. Normally, I watch harems just so I can realize how generic they are. Whoever wrote the script is a genius, but that's not to say that Saekano isn't generic. I'm ready to hear people tell me about how it's a lame satirization of otakus, but y0l0.
And with this, I rank it my third favorite show of all time.

is there any point for me to watch this harem show when the only perk is that it's self aware about how cliche it is? i rarely have an interest in anything romantic so this just seems like it'd waste 40-60 minutes of my time.

Just watched episode 2. Katou is awesome and maybe best girl.
I don't know how I feel about this show. It acknowledges that it's using troupes commonly found in harem anime, but it doesn't really do anything beyond that. It's self aware and doesn't care.
Idk if you can really call it satire dood. Saekano is less like "we're gonna show you why being dumb is dumb by making fun of it" and more like, "yeah we know we're being dumb but we're gonna keep being dumb anyways". Nomsayin?

The show is making fun of the exact same things it is doing. I honestly can't figure out in what way this show is supposed to be different from any other harem, and I doubt that there is really much value to be gained from watching it.
It's funny, because I say all this despite the fact that I am actually watching the show. Of course, maybe it's just too meta for me and I can't fully appreciate it, though if that's the case I'll just end up dropping it down the line anyway.
