Coming back after 2 year hiatus?
Having read the "A better Maple" blog, I'm actually thinking about coming back...
I've played maple since 2005 (MSEA, then went to NA when the servers opened)..played on and off until Big Bang update..came back and tried it but realized the game wasn't the same. Having invested a lot of money and time in the past and having seen how the game became pay-to win'esque, I really hated it, even more so that you either had to buy hacked/duped items or try to play the game legitly after BB (with less sense of adventure and community, more hacking, people spamming d/c paks, and I would have to drop even more money for cubes ). Everything I loved about Maple was thrown out the window.
I'm now coming back with a open mind to see how the game has matured....or has it?
If I did come back...
I have a lv 130 Shad..a scar helm/ chaos(?) zak helm...I really forgot...let just say I know Ill be piss poor...any advice will be appreciated.

Come back and play, maple is still fun and ppl just say this game is bad even though they play it daily
There are alot of changes from your time but youll get used to it
And the whole funding part is hard to explain
Funded is totally diffrent term now, Back then it was your illbis and your zak helm
Now it your ledgendary tyrants and Cra
The game will still be fun without high numbers, Theres a bunch of unfunded people and they still enjoy maple
The community still has nice people but there are more baddies on maple then, I'm sure joinig a guild is your first step into new maple buds and avoiding baddies

Just to let you know, mostly everybody will say don't come back. Honestly, I'm not sure why everybody says this when they're still playing, there has to be something that keeps them here. Personally, I love the community right now, but people still complain about it. The main thing with this is that you get into a good guild and alliance. There's still a fair amount of hacking going on (people hacking, not people being hacked; that mostly stopped a while ago). There's still plenty of hacked/duped items in the FM, but there's also very good legitimate items nowadays. I don't use any hacked or duped items, but I still have managed to get a very good damage range. Cubes are now craftable and drop from bosses, but it's a relatively low rate (I'd say somewhere between 5-7% for most bosses).
Basically, you should just try it out and decide for yourself.

What are the big money makers in Maple? Scrolls? Ores? I think I had some 20% pink scrolls from the 6th anniversary...are those worth anything?

I don't mind Gaching (as long as I don't get P-pies...very rage inducing lol). I also heard they removed chairs from gach? IIRC, gaching was completely abandoned once they released cubes. But having cubes drop from bosses and being able to craft them....I'm ok with that.
RED patch is the one reason im actually considering coming back...I also heard they have events called "OLD maplestory event", can anyone give me details on what this actually means?

The drop rate on cubes on the bosses you will be able to solo is really low you probably will never get cubes out of them (except from Root Abyss, which has a decent drop rate for those cubes). Crafting them is so time consuming, and one of the recipes is pretty hard to get, I doubt you will end up crafting them at all.
The game is still heavily pay2win, and if you don't want to invest money, you will have to invest lots of time.
Fortunately, the more recent events have been more handouts to scroll/cube your own gear, but the downside is, you have to invest A LOT of time to get to that point.

Never gach for money, 90% of the time you won't make even 1/8th what you spent.

Ohh..SO you like...merch? I used to run a pretty successful merch guilds in Khaini. Monopoly and Check..I wonder if they are still around....

I don't see your guys problem, I mean I've been playing for almost about a year. And I LOVE it, although ever since unleashed they nerfed the best training spots, but hey whatcha going to do? I enjoy the game immensely, idk what you guys are whining about.
