Started a new character for the first time in a long time (yes a girl char). Was doing the quests in gold beach, and I was only there a couple of minuets when I was quite shocked to see the warning sign flashing on my screen lol. There were no prior elite mobs. This guy just seemed to spawn out of the blue.
I've killed 3 now, and only had trouble with the HEALER type that kept transforming, blinding, and potion sealing me (which is the one in the picture lol).

I know lol, I rarely run into them on my main characters, but I've run into 3 now with my new one... and only once did I actually have to hunt any of the elite monsters first. And that one I tried for only because after the first elite monster I killed it said I felt something in the darkness... so I kept going lol.
These reason why the Elite Boss appeared is most likely the fact someone else was hunting. Even if people leave the map, the progress will be frozen until someone else decides to hunt.
Scary yes, but it's normal.
