Islanders still a thing?

So I remember years ago (many years), Islanders were a big trend. Do people still make these? I know the island has lost a lot of its old maps, but it appears to still be possible.
As someone who tried playing an islander once (still have her in fact, untouched) I haven't seen the point of it now that there's return to maple island skill and there's no way to prove that you've actually stayed on the island the whole time. After all, from what I gather the point of it was to show off being a so-and-so level without any good training spots.
you're talking nonsense. the skill takes you to a fake island. real islanders are in the real island which isnt on the map

every now and then someone tries to revive it in scania or broa or khaini. Only lasts for a month or so. There seems to be a few active ones in scania though. The new blazing character thing might be helpful to those who want to be a high leveled one.

i doubt it, ms has less players than before
and more content shifted to dmg and classes makes it more enticing to make anything but islanders
