Whew~I'm glad it's finally finished!
I decided to draw Dreamy Ghost/Hime because she's one of my favourite mobs

This took approximately 97 hours but I've spent a LONG TIME trying to get used to using pen tools(Photoshop CS4)and tablet(I'm still not very good at it...)
I know some of you here can draw WAY better than this in less than few days(or few hours)but please don't be too hard on me.
I couldn't draw any faster because this is my very first digital drawing and I know nothing about Anime style drawings either.
I've been doing nothing but traditional drawings/paintings all my life so this is new for me.
Maybe if I didn't do the background it would've been much more easier(and faster)but I'm a very greedy person. I still wanted to make her look good >

I hope you like it

P.S. You won't be seeing any drawings from me for a while. I'm exhusted from the stress I got from
1.) first week of university
2.) working on this drawing

P.S.S. If you don't like Anime style drawings then...oh well...I can't do anything about it. I can't please EVERYONE.
I'm one those "traditional art/painting" people and I've always appreciated manga art cuz I JUST can't do it. (well considering I've never PROPERLY tried..ehh..) It's sort of sad how people don't appreciate traditional art anymore though..
That is not true at all. A lot of people still appreciate traditional art. I remember a thread on basil about how most of the artist here are digital artists and then later turned into a traditional art VS. digital art flame war. I was quite surprised at how a lot of people thought of digital artists being fake, cheap, easy, and lazy. I do both traditional and digital art so I appreciate both but sadly there will always be haters hating on either one.

Very well done!
How about a border too, to emphasize the dreamy ghost?
I did try adding the border around her but I didn't really like how it looked so I got rid of it at the very last moment. Adding the border helped emphasizing but it didn't blend in with the background very well.

(or maybe I sucked at adding the border...XP)

Improper use of words, probably should have said "should" instead of "need". My bad.

@HawonAru

I just typed up a rather long response to your last comment, unfortunately Basil decided to not send the message and I lost it. Fail.

A shorter version of what I would have said is: I believe we may have misinterpreted each other. I believe I may have come across a little bluntly, where I thought you came across, in response, a little angrily. Fair enough. Really, no matter how I arrange my first comment, it's going to sound similar and someone is going to have a problem with it. I type in a very blunt manner which sometimes makes me seem like a giant cactus thorn sometimes. Y'see, perhaps if I typed my first comment like..:

The face is seriously creepy, no offense. D:
The mouth and eyes aren't really positioned properly. >__<
The rest is good though.

I come across a lot more light hearted, yes? Too bad for me since I don't generally like using emoticons every 0.2 seconds in sentences. But, I feel that there isn't anything wrong with my comments, they say what I wanted to say. The face does creep me out, the mouth and eyes aren't positioned correctly (imo) and the rest is good!

I wouldn't word it any other way.
Okay, I understand. So it was just a misinterpretation.
Again, I'd like to apologize for the other reply. I was getting mad as well.
Have you used Photoshop? You can explode the layer of the bamboo tree and change the color(colour).

No need to get upset about my comment. I don't really give a damn if your reference had the face structure positioned like that, because it's horrible positioning which ever way you put it. And by creepy, I don't mean it looks scary, I mean that the facial structure creeps me out.

Look, all I was doing was trying to help. If you don't want to listen, fine. To improve your work, you need to accept criticism and not see it as an insult. You'll often find when you draw something, you can't see the flaws but someone else can. It's like proof reading something you've written; you'll still have a mistake somewhere in there... unless you're extremely meticulous about it.

I truly did mean no offense to be taken, but hey, you took it the wrong way.

PS. By criticism, i don't mean stupid crap like "lol dis drawin iz so bad lern 2 draw", because that's not constructive; it doesn't help you at all.
Oh I'm so sorry. Did I sound angry? I wasn't upset at all. I was just joking(?)around. I didn't mean it like that.
And I never said anything about not wanting/ignoring criticism either. I am thankful. I truly am. I didn't mean to upset you like this.
Please forgive me. I didn't mean to make you angry. If you were offended by my reply, I sincerely apologize.

EDIT: and I just want to make myself clear. I don't get easily offended with people giving me advice. I mean, I know that they are trying to help me improve my drawing but I'd like to state the problem with your feedback.

For example, you draw a person and you ask a couple of people to give you advice on it what kind of feedback would you prefer? A or B?

A.) "It would look a lot better if you fix the face. Her nose and mouth is a bit off center."
or
B.) "The face is seriously creepy, no offense. The mouth and eyes aren't really positioned properly."

I think most people would prefer person A's advice don't you think?
I'm sorry if this sounds offensive but I'm talking about basic manner here, not about ignoring criticism.

Again, I really wasn't upset over your reply but I do think you went too far. You're the one who needs to calm down. What part of my comment was so offensive for you to behave this way? I personally double check before submitting my comments every time and I don't think there's anything wrong about my post.

And if you think her mouth and her eyes' positions aren't correct blame the anime game I'm playing. I took the references(positions of the face and eyes)from there...>_>

Hmm...I'm thinking you're not left handed.
Usually left handed people write/draw slower. For some reason I'm even slower than average left handed people.
I've been in a car accident that nearly snapped my wrist in half so it's never been the same after that as well...-__-

For me, it takes twice~ten times longer to do any kinds of writing/drawing than other people so please be understanding.
If you expect a better drawing than this it'll take months for me...XP

Also if I drew this with...markers, watercolour, or acrylics for example it would've taken less time. I mean after all, this drawing's my first digital drawing so I'm planning to keep it as a good memory.
I don't like anime at all, but that doesn't mean I can't see that you did very well and you put so much effort into it
I think it would look even better if you had colored her in a soft cell shading, to match the soft background more, but this is very good either way, especially for your first time, good job at the lighting too! The colors are fine too, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The bamboo is just perfect, at night everything's darker and lacks color, so it's just right. You said you're worried cause it doesn't look as realistic as the roof, that is probably because of the sharp peak highlights you set, the roof was shaded very softly (besides the metal part) and the bamboo has a more defined and sharper shading (very dark colors next to clear white), which is a little unrealistic because leafs don't reflect the light as much, but absorb part of it. but really I don't want to go deeper into it because that's realism and you're doing anime so you don't need to worry about it
I'm not that into soft-cell shading. That's why I only used tablet for line art and I coloured her using nothing but pen tools(and I guess that's why it took so long) and I also noticed that the roof and the bamboo tree's too blurry compared to the her so I was thinking of re doing the whole background part using pen tools but I was just too tired to do so.

By the way, thanks for the advice!
its a good pic but just to let u know the nose and mouth is alittle off needs to move more to the middle of the face other then that looks good
Thank you anyways. You have good observation skills.

Oops I forgot to mention the ghost and the moon are the main characters in this drawing because I love huge full moons. XD
I'm sorry you didn't like the moon part...
And as for the cloud part...I knew I had to do the shadows of the clouds infront of the moon.
