So if I recordded complete silence
If I were to record complete silence, then put on headphones and turn the silence all the way up, would it cancel sound?

Why would that work? Really. Cmon, sound can "Cancel" other sounds because it is simply louder to you than the other sound. If you hear NOTHING it wont be louder than anything

EDIT: And I'll explain why... sound cancelling is done by playing the "opposite" of a sound - inverting the sound and playing that cancels out the original.
If you were to record complete silence and turn the volume all the way up, you would most likely still here the static channeling out of your headphones.
And you would still be able to hear outside noises due to the silence. Basically, recording no sound and listening to it on headphones is the equivalent of muting
a song.
Well, itd be funny if you recorded yourself heavily breathing and you thought it was silent, and when you listen to it you think somebodys behind you and gonna murder you
