Questions about GIMP

Hey guys
I got a tablet recently and I've been practicing and getting used to it. Im now comfortable with drawing on it but there are some things I'm not sure how to do
How do I make my lines smooth? Or is there such a method?
When coloring how do I make even colors?Just an example
How do I color line art?

GIMP sucks, get Photoshop CS5.
EDIT :
If you don't want to pay, get Real World Paint.net.
To make smooth lines, use the path tool. You'd have to play around with it, but it's not too hard to figure out with practice. You can adjust line thickness where you have the path tool selected on the toolbar.
To color one solid color, I'd suggest using the ink pen tool. When you use the brush or regular pen tool the pressure sensitivity on your tablet changes the color opacity. The ink pen, however, keeps the color solid as if you were working in a simpler program (like ms paint, for example)
To color lineart I recommend having a layer of white, then creating separate, transparent layers in which you do a sketch, lineart, and color. It's more convenient than having layers with white backgrounds, in my opinion.

also, don't forget the "color to alpha" option in the 'colors' menu. That's really convenient for when you have clean, traditional lineart you've done and scanned onto the computer. It will make the white parts of the drawing transparent and then you can easily color on separate layers.

I hope that helps
See when I looked at your drawing for the Basil Brigade how did you get the dress to be one color? Did you just use the ink tool? Did you also use the path tool for the line art as well?
And yes that did help. My only problem with the path tool is that it limits you.

Another tip for making smooth lines is to draw with quick, yet precise strokes.

for smoother line, there's the path tool in gimp. I'm not sure how to use it, since I always line my with brush/ink tool.
For colouring and what not, you should make ur lineart and colours in different layers? Layers? (hope I'm helping some what? ><;
