My Theory on Recent Hackings

So from my point of view, I see freshly hacked player on basil making threads on how much they lost. An almost too common recurring theme is this waste of $X00 on NX. Now the two most common responses to this(excluding the "sorry for your loss" is "Quit" and "If you want to recover, go buy more NX". Now the first response gives an idea of a rival game paying hackers to make people quit, possible but very unlikely. Now the SECOND response, leads me to believe that Nexon America is BEHIND these so-called "hackings". Now before you flame me, think about it: if NX-dependent(cubing, gaching, clothes, etc.) people are losing stuff, they're inclined to buy more NX to get back on their feet because they know that that's the easiest way. So NXers losing stuff = NXers buying more NX and NXers buying more NX = Rich Nexon America, therefore NXers losing stuff = Rich Nexon America. This scenario is more than plausible since we all know how greedy Nexon America is. If you're saying to yourself: Nexon America isn't greedy, look at this. Now if you see there, Nexon America generated $639 million last year. Now why do I bring this up? Last year was the year the game-utility NX items came out, such as miracle cubes for resetting potentials and Pam's song which worked like 100% clean slate scrolls! Now I don't expect all of you to agree with me or even read this whole wall of text, I just needed to get this out.

Summarized Version: My theory is that Nexon America is behind the recent hackings because of the fact that when NX-dependent players lose their stuff, they just go and get more NX therefore, making greedy Nexon America even richer than they already are. The link up there ^^ is proof that Nexon America is indeed greedy because 2010 is the year when game-useful items came out(cubes, pam's song, etc.)

uhhh... idk... it's a little... sketchy o_O...
i mean, sure, nexon is greedy, but i'm sure there would be consequences/legal actions held against them if they did something like this
and a secret that big circulating around the business can lead to a leak of the truth, and then nexon goes bye bye
i certainly wouldn't play a game if the owner of the game could hack me whenever o_O....
idk, who knows

as soon as you said go buy more nx i auto guessed what the theory is, nexon is hacking players so they will go buy more nx and start over

This is just lulzstupid. You're assuming things to be true and pointing fingers. "we all know how greedy Nexon America is". You have no right to assume you speak for a majority, or to acknowledge that it's a majority at all.

Companies are here to make money. Consumer's money. In that sense, ALL companies are greedy. Every store you walk into, they're waiting to rob you of your fortune. Wherever you spend even a single cent, there's people on the other side waiting for you to spend more. Why even consider Nexon "greedy"? That's purely ignorant.

According to my point of view, Nexon would be losing money rather than gaining more, as stated by @Caseyr. Why would Nexon take this risk that would evidently harm their company? They POSSIBLY would yield more profit, theoretically, but why even try? I think it would be ideal that players would quit. Maybe you wouldn't, but there are some that would and some that wouldn't. Tell me Nexon is psychic.

Lastly, Nexon's large profit yield cannot be assumed because of hackings. The rise in prices is natural if anything. Moreover, there are so many factors that contribute to the assumed "increase" in profit. Your statistics are meaningless.

Nexon should really read basil threads...

THANK THE LORD FOR THE SUMMARY. And there are theories that nexon also sells nx/mesos on "those" sites. It's plausable, or it's more plausable that their security just isn't all that good.

Will you guys quit with the crazy conspiracy theories already? Honestly, all you want is a new reason to hate on Nexon. By all means, go ahead. But honestly, just read what you've typed. This is the real world, not a cheap novel or a cheesy TV show. Nexon doesn't want to hire hackers to hack you, that's ridiculous and more than likely illegal. The only reason a company like Nexon would hire hackers would be if they hired a team of white hat hackers to find the weak points before they were introduced to the general public...
And now I'm daydreaming too.

Uh, they made 870 million I thought? Or were those just the profits from Q1 Q2 and Q3 of this year.

I won't doubt this, but the chances aren't super high as well. The ID leak was the hackers fault, but there may be a slight possibility Nexon allowed that to happen? (Since MTS is used mainly for people with NX)
