If they were being nice to you before you told them, they would continue being nice even after you tell them that you're a guy so it won't seem like they're only being nice to girls.
maybe its just me, but when a guy sees a girl character online, it is more easy to talk to her, it is easy to do things for her. a quest? sure the guy is funded, he can help you. time? i play games all day long, of course i'll help you. cause its pretty hard for shy guys to talk to girls in real life,that are scared of rejection of even friendship
