Question about transposition

Hey guys, I understand that if you psok your fafnir eq before transposing them, you would be able to trade the sw eq once.
What about if you bought the fafnir from someone, never equip it yet. On the item it says unreadable once equipped. Would transposing this enable the final sw eq to be traded once as well? Or do I have to equip it and psok it again before transposing? Thanks
