intel and amd processors

What is the main difference between these processors, also which one would be better in price and performance with a budget of $150 (motherboard+processor)

Price ur system out on Newegg hard to beat their prices and their delivery and support are the best in the business.

Remember AMD/Intel usually use different types of memory, check the board specs for supported memory then price out the memory. Also has great combo deals. Easily get something under $150 usually with free shipping.
@ShiroNoYami: Yea but im talking in general. Not just one of their models.
In general, there is no relevant difference between the two manufacturers at the $150 price-point for CPU and motherboard.

OT: The most recent Athlon II X4 CPU to hit the market is actually named Phenom II X4 840.
Amd if you are just gonna surf / play games (cheaper processors/mobos )
Intel if youre into 3d rendering (Mutch higher preformance but so is the price)
Not necessarily. AMD's Phenom II X6 is basically on-par with Intel's quad core i7 lineup at the moment.

The main difference is Intel is made by Intel, and AMD is made by AMD. Sort of like Ford and Chevy. Otherwise, they're awfully similar.

AMD has traditionally been more "value oriented" as far as price.

An AMD Athlon II X4 with a motherboard would probably be the best bang for your buck at $150.
