Basil Boot Camp - The Tumblr

Hello, I'm sure you're all curious as to what this is. [b]bbcmain.tumblr.com[/b] / [b]basilbootcamp.tumblr.com[/b] is basically a group blog composed of various basil artists.

The idea originated from suama and was sparked by twinklefish's "basil art boot camp agenda yeeee" thread (). This tumblr is designed for Basilers to easily submit their works in progress (WIPs), sketches, etc. in order to encourage them to practice.

You can find the admins and members on the tumblr.

[header]Instructions for the Admin[/header]
1. Sign into the tumblr.
2. In the top right corner, click "basilbootcamp".
3. Click "Members."
4. Invite yourself. If you don't have a tumblr, it'll send you an e-mail telling you to make one. If you already have a tumblr, the accounts will simply be linked.
5. Go to your email and confirm.
6. Log back into the bbcmain tumblr. Go to "Members" and promote yourself to admin. Voila!
7. Click "bbcmain" in the top right corner and edit the "admin" post with your info.

Now instead of logging into the bbcmain tumblr, you can log into your own tumblr, select "basilart" in the top right corner, and upload pictures to the bbcmain account (while still in your own account)! Woo~

When you submit your art, it will require an email. This email will be shown to us (the admin), but when we accept the submission your email will not be shown on the tumblr. Tumblr does not allow us to change this setting. If you do not want anyone seeing your email, then create a tumblr OR use an email that you don't mind us seeing.

[header]Comments and Questions[/header]
I've installed a commenting system (Disqus) on the tumblr (yay!) so that people can comment on the submitted work. [b]When commenting, please use your Basil ID.[/b] If/When criticizing, be CONSTRUCTIVE; don't be rude. Inappropriate comments will be deleted.

If you're going to be commenting often, I suggest you make a Disqus account. This is, of course, by no means necessary. If you don't have an account/avatar you will simply show up as derpina with your Basil ID to the right.

@mizukiri: we only have 23 members atm, so I don't feel like the board would be very active. I guess we could start one if you guys really wanted to. I think I'm just too lazy to try to start one up LOL.

@geegeet: it's easier to share a bunch of images. haha x)

it really is a hipster blogging platform LOL. It's nice because it's designed more for sharing images than text.
Downside is that their commenting feature sucks >_<

@Hanate: I agree! I didn't think I'd like ANE at first but I grew to like it. I hate the OP though and some of the other music choices... they sound so old and retro and don't seem to fit with the anime/scenes. e_e

It works the same way ;___; if I had done that I would have had to ask all of the admins and members for their email, which is against Basil Market's rules The only other option would be to give out my info for my personal tumblr. :s
That's why I created a new gmail for basilbootcamp.tumblr.com. This way, the admins can log into basilbootcamp and invite themselves without having anyone else see their email.

Replies only work in the main blog; in other words, no other tumblrs within the account can have replies. I checked this with my own account as well as the basilbootcamp account (the option is located in the settings). I believe this is so because the main blog (which cannot have members) is supposed to represent "one" person. Direct quotation from tumblr help:
"Your primary blog is the one created when you sign up for Tumblr. It represents you (with its name, link, and avatar) when you follow or like other Tumblr blogs."
So our primary blog basilbootcamp has replies but cannot have members. Our group blog does not have replies but does have members.

BUT, like motionblurr said, we can [i]install[/i] comments using Disqus.com. I'm gonna go read more on disqus and see if I can get it installed on basilart.

[b]Edit:[/b] I've made "bbcmain" the primary blog and "basilbootcamp" the group blog. Now when you go to bbcmain.tumblr.com you'll see the info, and when you go to basilbootcamp.tumblr.com you'll find all of the art. (:

[b]TRIPLE EDIT:[/b] YAYYYYYY EVERYTHING'S DONE! Disqus has been installed successfully (I think) and you can now comment. I suggest making a disqus account but it is by no means necessary. Interests: Drawing, writing, surfing the web, chatting, animals/pets, City lights, buildings, Urban Areas, cartoons in general (Other things I can't remember)
Medium: Digital, I'm familiar with Acrylic paint, Pen, pencil, charcoal (willing to experiment with other things)
What are you hoping to improve?: Every-thing. I'd honestly love to know how to color, gestures, creating backgrounds, unleashing more creativity, creating comics, in general being all I can be as an artist. I'm open to new things , so learning new mediums would be great.

@linayen: I think you have to create the tumblr from your own main account in order to create an actual admin/group based one. But don't worry about it, seems like people are getting settled in now. Maybe create a page with the member profiles and etc on the basilart page though. Not sure why though, but we can't reply to stuffs. Ahhh sorry for confusing you. D: I'll try to explain everything.

When I made the basilbootcamp account, I wanted to make [i]that[/i] account the one where you can view all of the info AND art. Unfortunately, it wouldn't let me. I had to create another tumblr WITHIN the basilbootcamp account in order to allow the admins to join.

Because of that, I made basilbootcamp the "main" tumblr with info on it, and basilart the tumblr with art submissions.
If you want, however, I can make some changes in order to have basilart with simply nothing on it and basilbootcamp with all the info AND art submissions.

Just let me know how you guys wanna do this! I'll try my best! lmao
