Good avatars, ugly in real life?

In basil I always notice people asking if they are good looking or not and when u see there avatar theres a bunch of nx and whatnot. But, when you see there real life pic its not exactly ugly but.....ya know..... and im just wondering. Did any1 else notice this? xD
