Cannot pass trial of anguish mushroom shrine tales
I have already tried
1) doing nothing the entire 10 minutes
2) killing crows the entire 10 minutes
3) doing nothing until the black crow shows up and killing the crows as fast as possible

Are you sure you're doing it for the entire duration? It's supposed to port you out after like 5-6 minutes...
Killing the boss is actually very easy. It's not like other bosses where you can attack as normal. When the tengu has a blue aura around him, press THE SPACEBAR. Just hit it once, dont spam space. Hit it once inside the blue aura (which he will do after his swooping attack) and then press the arrow keys that show up afterwards, it's like the worlds slowest dance dance revolution.
For example: Blue aura ~> press space. Wait for arrow key symbols ~> ^ ~> V or "S" (space bar) Hit those keys when indicated and repeat this until he dies.
