Question about End Game Equips Experienced Maplers Help

Hi guys,

I'm just getting back into the game after 6 years and there is a lot of new stuff to take in. I've been reading up on as many guides as I can find but they all seem to be a bit outdated. I just hit 165 on my Kaiser, which will be my main account and I have begun to think about end game equips. I think I have it narrowed down as to what I need (RA set, Tyrants Cape/Shoes/Glove, Superior Gollux set, Ghost Exorcist Badge) but what I am not able to find anywhere is the best way to scroll/upgrade these items the most cost effective way.

How do people usually go about scrolling/cubing end game equips? Do you usually potential it first and try to cube it to Unique/Legendary? Or do you scroll it first? For capes, do you Chaos scroll? When is a Chaos scroll usually used? When do people invest in protection/shielding/innocence scrolls in this process?

For simplicity sake let's take 3 clean items: Fafnir 2-Handed Sword, Tyrants Cape, and Superior Gollux Belt. What would be the usual method someone would use to try and make these godly?

I know this is a pretty in depth question to ask, but I was hoping you guys could show this old guy the ropes again so I can start enjoying my end-game maple adventure (something I never got to do 6 years ago)!
Just to be clear, I only encourage the use of the old AEE system for Tyrants. Yes it's partially because you can prevent the item from booming until 7 stars unlike starforce. But also, having to REPLACE those items when you blow them up with starforce is a pain in the ass. Even though you carry all the stats over with an equip trace if you boom it with starforce... it's still a couple bil for a cape, over 10b for shoes most likely & gloves/belt are incredibly rare. So unless you're pretty lucky, I'd say it's better to make the investment in shielding wards as an insurance policy than run the risk of having to spend billions replacing items when you could've avoided it.

For other non-Tyrant gear, once it's scrolled, use the starforce system to get it to 12 stars. It's like 100m on average and it gives a massive boost.
Oh my god I did not realize that if you blow an item up with Star Enhancement System you get a equipment trace that lets you transfer all the old stats to a new weapon! That is amazing! I mean then I don't really have to worry about the stars (besides the billions of mesos). I was worried that if it boomed, all my cubing/scrolling/etc would all go to waste.

@Pewpewps: Dude, really? Thanks so much man, I really appreciate it. It's hard to know where to get things when you are the highest level out of your friends and you know nothing about the game. I will definitely find some way to pay you back (besides actually paying for the items)!

Nope I do go on Cvellum runs quite often so I can definitely sell you a cheap sword along with CRA gear if you need. Since the reset is tomorrow, I'll hopefully get something for you haha

@Pewpewps: Thanks a lot man! I'll accept as soon as I get off work! I've been trying to make new friends in Maple to show me the ropes, since a lot of my IRL buddies just picked up Maple again too and I want to be able to help them out with info/bossing since I have easy access to NX and can fund them. Problem is I know barely anything about the game in it's current state!

Yeah I didn't spend a lot on my Empress set, except my weapon (+6%STR and 12 wep att with +5 %30 scrolls). I just have a 6 set bonus so the additional 20 wep att is nice. Also some of my stuff has +%STR on it so it's been difficult to find stuff that actually increases my range (clean tyrants and RA equips lower it). Right now I'm trying to focus on getting all the clean versions of the RA set. I REALLY want a nice Fafnir sword...but do you know if Ryude's sword exists in Broa?

Personally, i would not spend money on Empress as they are not something you want to keep for a long time. I wouldn't mind selling you one for very cheap since you're actually taking the time to learn sent you a buddy request!

LOL really?

What a small world maple has become I just spent a lot of mesos so I'm a little poor right now. I forgot what I offered, 1.7b? I know you probably want to sell it soon, but people have been telling me I can get my damage up way more with the same amount of money on cheaper equips so I think I am going to hold off for just a bit to try and maximize my meso spending - dmg ratio. Also, the cape I have now completes my 6 set for Empress, so if I wear the cape clean my dmg will go down...and I just don't think I have the resources to give that cape the stats that it deserves T_T

Trust me I do want it bad haha but I only have around 2b so it would be all my mesos, and I hate going under 1b!

i would usually save guardians for no boom AEE, but that depends on how many stars you want on your tyrants. If not I would definitely use it on a unique scroll.

Also i'm the one you offered on my Tyrant Hyades cape, you still want it ?

Yeah I noticed Broa is practically empty and not only does it take a long time to sell things, but they cost a fortune!

I have one more question for whoever can tell me I got a guardian scroll from a surprise box. Would it be wise if I got my hands on a Unique potential scroll (4b in Broa I think..) to use this guardian scroll to save me 4b if it fails? Seems like a good investment as 2.4nx = 200-300m but for that price you don't lose your 4b potential scroll.

Right now in Broa, scrolling your weapon will be insanely expensive due to people try to manipulate the market and buying out things to resell for higher.

My advice to you is to just buy end game equips, this is mainly for cra gear. For tyrants you can still enhance them yourself using the new star force system.

Ohhh I thought the old enhancement scrolls were absolutely useless because of the star system, but just so I understand you:

The AEEs have a chance to blow up the item right, same as the new Star Enhancement system, but the chance to blow it up is much higher. However, there is no way to currently prevent the new Star Enhancement system from blowing your items up? So in order to get around blowing up your equips the only way is to use the old enhacement scrolls + Superior Shielding Wards?

This way, it sounds like you can go ahead and scroll and potential your equip first, and then star it with no fear (if you have the money).

If you're willing to spend money on NX, then when it comes to Tyrants, you'd probably be better off using the old system of AEEs + Superior Shielding Wards to enhance your Tyrants. It's better than constantly blowing them up with star force b/c that's just a waste of money.

Thanks wingless666, I figured that just buying pre-scrolled stuff (ideally with existing potential) was probably better since I could then just invest in cubes.

I do have a full-time job compared to when I used to play Maplestory in the old days (was just a kid), so I am capable and willing to spend a few hundred dollars on NX if that's what it takes to reach the range cap I just wanted to make sure I was going about it the correct way so as to maximize the value of my money (without you guys I probably would have spent billions of extra mesos to get pretty average equips).

Also, what are "primes"?

Thanks a lot!

Well for the most part
buying cubed goods is cheaper than making your own
buying scrolled goods is cheaper making yourself
Atm though clean slates are expensive as hell and at that point you might as well
buy a pre scrolled/cube weapon. With the new system tyrant is expensive but
possible to 7+ without using nx so either buy a cubed one or if you have the money
for it keep enhancing capes till you get a 7~10 star and slap an epic/unique on it.
Gollux on the other hand is easy to scroll and it is just as good as a tyrant while
also being a fraction of the cost. Cubing all depends on you, if you want to cube
it yourself cool, if you don't then you will probably be paying a lot for decent %stat(12%+)
If anything I would save up for a scrolled weapon and just use 70% traces till you have
enough to buy the weapon of your dreams. Though if you have patience you shouldn't
need to buy icogs/prot/innocence/safey. Especially protects considering the biggest
booming issue has been dealt with and epic pot>adv pot anyday. Only time you would
need protects now is for primes which are slowely running out.

Also you can fuse 2 failed swords together to make a new clean one with alchemy (at a specific level).

Thanks for the quick responses guys!

I literally am so new to this game it's embarrassing haha. I don't know any of the new bosses really...I used to Kerning PQ and Zakum was the be-all-end-all. So excuse the noob questions.

Would I be able to do Gollux at my current level (165 Kaiser with, 63k unbuffed range, 120k range in Kaiser Mode)? Which mode gives Superior Gollux equips? How do I obtain Gollux Coins? Does he drop them?

EDIT: I also forgot to ask about Star Force Enhancements! Should I try to get as many stars as possible after I've scrolled the item, but before cubing?

First, you would want lvl 100 dilligence for an additional 10% chance to succeed scrolls.
Spell trace a clean fafnir sword with 8 15%s. If 3 pass, clean slate it and keep 15%ing it.
Otherwise, restart with a clean fafnir sword.
Tyrant Cape: Use 90% Gollux 1 attack or spell trace STR onto it. use Star force until 7+stars.
Superior Gollux Belt: 60% Advanced Gollux scrolls.

As for cubing, it's normal to use Black Cubes until Legendary and red cube until you have desired stats.

Usually you scroll it first before you cube it.

For the weapon, you use the best spell trace you can afford. Lower % means better attack, but more cost to get it to +10. So for low funding you usually go 70%. Best stats (but most expensive because of all the clean slates you'll need), would be from 15%.

For the tyrant cape you can use a chaos of goodness if you want, but the real stats come from the enhancements when it comes to tyrants, since they're superior items. So you enhance as high as you're willing to risk it (superiors at 50% success for 1 star and have a chance to boom starting at 5 stars).

For Superior/Reinforced Gollux items, the best way to scroll them is to use the advanced Gollux scrolls from the Gollux shop that cost 30 coins each. They add 3 all stats and 4 attack per scroll, so they give much better stats than chaos scrolls. A fully scrolled and hammered superior belt would have 75 all stats, 55 attack.
