Is there a certain monster range for them to drop? And do they drop in PQ's?

isnt that just normal scrolling?

Place an equipment on it?

From what I have seen, they drop from monsters. You have an option on the side where you can place an equipment on it and you use spell traces in exchange for scrolls.
