Xenon

Beam Dance vs Snipe

Hey guys I was a bit curious, i decided to drop 200k on my 20% boss inner ability and i finally got +1 atk speed. I was initially doing this for the xenon update where the delay of snipe got reduced. The question i had was if snipe at maximum atk speed is better than beam dance (considering both atks cap 100% of the time). Max atk speed on snipe includes booster+dsi+mpe potion+inner ability atk speed+terminus whip, with all that added up i would believe that snipe actually has a chance of doing more dps than beam dance.

Note: also keep in mind that snipe will be updated to 6 lines. so it would be 6 lines of 50m/35m which would be a total of 510m per shot of snipe vs 50m/35m with beam dance...not quite sure how many times beam dance hits within the time frame of 1 snipe...but ya any thoughts would be appreciated...

I'm pretty sure the attk speed + extra line is coming.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yg_Zdh_lE4g < In KMST atleast it was shown to have 6 lines and the attk speed increase is pretty crazy. It's like casting Quad throw on a Xenon. (Skip to around 3:10 to see it, the guy runs with his summon for basically the first 15 -20 stages)
Yeah I've seen what it looked like in KMST but I was just going off what was said above where it didn't look like it had made it into the KMS content. I rarely pay attention to what's coming in KMS anyways. But I guess we'll find out when it hits GMS.
Base delay on snipe at normal 6 speed was changed from 1110ms to 930 ms. Assuming negative speed is possible you'd be at -1 with the listed speed boosters and terminus whip. This reduces snipe's delay to 1110 * (10 - 1) / 16 = 624ms which is rounded to 630ms.

Beam Dance has a 120ms delay, so assuming you cap with beam dance, you will get 5.25 beam dance hits in per Snipe. Snipe now hits 6 times, so it is better DPS on a single target when ignoring Pinpoint Salvo and Xenon's FA. If you are going to use Pinpoint Salvo and/or Xenon's FA activates on the boss then Beam Dance is better DPS when capping.

If 0 is the cap, your delay is 1110 * (10 + 0) / 16 = 694ms which is rounded to 720ms. Beam Dance and Snipe will have the same number of hits/s, but Pinpoint Salvo and FA give BD the better DPS.

TLDR: Beam Dance is better DPS when you cap consistently.
I appreciate everyone's input. Special thanks to xlxlxlxl for that explanation, so glad I cap with beam dance on cvellium already, dont need to worry about anything else dps wise.
Snipe. I think grimoriel did one on his channel but its a very close call. After the xenon rebalance snipe becomes faster(kms current patch) and hits more lines so snipe
As xlxlxl said above, unless the original 600ms snipe comes in live, beam dance would be better in terms of DPS wise. The post above as well is wrong because you're better off developing your control over your character when you boss with beam dance rather than spamming snipe in long range (i.e. magnus) and this is not that hard because you can jump and move while you use the skill. Regardless, beam dance is going to be better than snipe.

Depends on the boss. If you want to fight the boss up-close, Beam Dance. If you want to keep your distance, Snipe 'em. Obviously, Beam Dance away if it doesn't matter either way.

Regardless of speed, I prefer the combination of both attacking skills. Its nice being able to switch between a long range and melee attacking skill, especially for bosses like Chaos Vellum and Hard Magnus. I've got +1 attack speed as well and it came in handy before I could do serious damage with beam dance, I was able to solo Hell Gollux with capping snipe. The KMS Xenon update would be nice if the attack speed is increased but I'd settle for the extra line on snipe and beam dance attack increase anyway.

In the Korean maple website, it seems like the attack speed buff on snipe did not come out as shown in the patch notes and they readjusted it(the additional line was implicated and damage along with the damage nerf). I'm currently reading some threads and they are saying that beam dance is still better than snipe unless they re-release the 600ms snipe which was the one in the patch notes. Not too sure about the exact numbers on the adjustment.
