Nautilus strike actually kills the mobs from the mid section, use that in junction with time leap. Octo reaches gollux from the portal now, so you can tell away from hand. Some classes with summons can simply leave one down in the middle to prevent mobs from getting there. Buccs have a bit of a harder time, but so does any class without a summon , night Lord star/lumi style mob clear, or shade sticky bind in the middle. It is still very doable for buccaneer compared to having to use the methods some characters had to use to clear hell, like the bucc eludious aka melee.

@nokiebex Indeed, if you love your class you'll get things done eventually; it's far more effective for your enjoyment to play a class you love, but isn't good, than to play a class you hate, but is good. Although some people find end-game bossing fun, so they pick a class that excels at it; if that's the reason that the original poster wants, then chances are it's best if he shies away from Buccaneers. They just don't pack enough punch(Pun intended) to deal with end-game bosses in a way that feels fair(For most people), so a lot of it tends to be frustration at lacking an effective kit, rather than challenge at beating the boss' mechanics.

For my first hellux solo i had about 1.7~1.9mil clean range with 390% Boss which is pretty high. It takes a fair amount of practice to manage stage 2 and 3 with mobs but it is achievable. Also are buccs good at bossing ? Personally I think we are ok but compared to other classes not really but if you love your class you will figure a way to do things

@believemenot Do you not understand that your damage range isn't proof? As I said before, you can have a 300k damage range Aran(No funding) hit higher than a 300k range Bowmaster(Tons of funding), but the Bowmaster is outputting far higher damage; this isn't taking into account how Buccaneers have several luck-based buffs that affect their damage output, how their durability is flat out worse than Shade and how Shade's utility trumps that of Buccaneers.

Your PERSONAL damage range is not any sort of proof. I don't know how you think it is, but I mean... it's really not, especially when it's pure theory(In which Shades ALREADY beat out Buccaneers on punching bag damage charts, with Buccaneers being considered under optimal buffs), and not actually applied, realistic scenarios.

Ok when I have time, maybe later today, I will post a screenshot of my bucc and my shade damages comparison. both at same range.

@believemenot I'm waiting you to reply in the previous thread where you made such a claim and provided zero proof beyond your personal experience(Which wasn't even founded properly on actual data). Please stop trying to spread misinformation and actually provide proof that common knowledge and applied practice is wrong, instead of encouraging people to make a low tier class and citing more or less irrelevant data in your 'proof'.

bucc is not that bad for bossing. Just use sharkwave to clear mobs, and octopunch hits 9 times, the same as shades spirit claw.

They aren't good for bossing and there's a video of a Buccaneer soloing Hellux that you can check for rough range requirements, but if you're looking to boss then you have much better options than Buccaneers at your disposal. Your main problems when soloing Hellux appears to be two-pronged; surviving in a way flexible enough to deal damage whilst clearing mobs(Sharkwave can help a lot here since it can be cast in mid-air and has a quick animation) and dealing enough damage in the third phase to clear Hellux before the timer runs out. The video I've seen appears to forego mob control and just blitz the head since they can manage; obviously, bringing a partner to control mobs could help a lot, but that's not a real solo.

All in all, I'd say if your goal is to solo Hellux and boss well, then a Buccaneer is NOT a good class for you.
