Multi-pet issues

Hi! So I asked this last night but it was pretty late so no one really saw it.

My friend has been having trouble getting the multi-pet to work. She started the quest and completed the jumping puzzle, but when she clicks on the basket of kittens it just says she couldn't find anything. She DOES have the snack already bought, and she tried using different pets but it still doesn't work.

Does anyone know if it's glitched or if maybe we're doing something wrong?
