Percentage Ignore Def Question

Alright so, I'm not so sure how the % Ignore DEF Stat works, hoping someone can clear this up for me.

My weapon (Fafnir Lost Cannon) comes with a base "Ignore Monster DEF: +10%". I got a Unique Potential "Ignore Monster DEF: +15%" on it, and added an [A] Nebulite "Ignore Monster DEF: +21%" to it.

Altogether, it should add up to (10+15+21) = 46% PDR, but when I unequip the cannon, in my stat window only (22%) is deducted. In fact, none of my Ignore Monster DEF %s seem to be adding up. Doing the math myself, I should have 81% Ignore DEF (30% [full fafnir set] + 21% [nebulite] + 30% [potentials] = 81%). But with all my equips on, it only shows as 68% in my stat window. I'm assuming it should all just add up since my Boss Damage %s add up perfectly in my stat window...

Am I doing this right, or are there other factors that go into making up PDR?

Extra Question: Should I stick with my 21% PDR neb, or go for a +4% STR neb to make my Cannon +25% STR?

Putting a 4% str neb on your cannon is both impossible and a terrible idea at the same time. Weapon nebs on weapons, armor nebs on armor.

@janny1993: well i got nothing better to do.
say you ignore 10% defense, that means you ignore 0.1 out of 1, right?
to calculate how much the boss has after that, we do 1-0.1
so the boss now has 0.9 defense.

the new PDR ignore goes off the boss' new defense value, which is 90% of what it was or 0.9 as said before, say we got another 10% ignore line
0.9*(1-0.1)
0.9*0.9
0.81

so the boss now has a defense of 0.81, or 81% of the original, you keep doing that until you're done with all your PDR sources.

but this gives you the defense the boss has left... 81% in this case... so what he lost must be what we ignore, hence
1-0.81
0.19
19% ignore

so rewriting the formula:
1-(1-PDRA)(1-PDRB)...(1-PDRZ)

which is what i wrote. if it were additive it would look like:
1- (1-PDRA-PDRB-PDRZ)

or more simply: PDRA+PDRB+PDRZ
ohhh *clap* *clap* *clap*

Nice education
@Darkspawn980 thanks for the explanation! It makes total sense now. I actually pulled out a calculator and used your formula and it all adds up LOL.
GENIUS! I don't even understand that formula, hahaha xD

PDR is multiplicative as poster 1 said. you can't reach 100% ignore no matter what.

your ignore is the result of

1-(1-%ignoreA)*(1-%ignoreB)...(1-%ignoreZ)

Someone told me once that you have to do the math on your own and that what's shown in the window isn't accurate ... but idk
