Deluxe Digital Promotion works with free game from Mk8

I don't know if you guys know about this, but if you have a Wii U deluxe there's a promotion going on with purchases from the eshop. If you register your Wii U deluxe here it picks up whatever purchases you make on your Wii U's eshop and gives you 10% of the purchase value in points (doesn't count for the Wii eshop on the Wii U). So a $59.99 game gives you 599 points and every 500 points gives you a free $5 credit on the eshop.

So with all of that out of the way, when you redeem your free game from Mario Kart 8, that download counts as if you had paid the full eshop price for it and gives you the points in the deluxe promotion. So if you pick a game like Pikmin 3, which is still full price on the eshop, you basically get a free game and a free $5 credit towards something else on the eshop.

Just thought it was worth mentioning and it's retroactive up to the beginning of this year, so eshop purchases from before you register still go towards your points.

@gunwoopak: Try the Nintendo help page then. I mean it's not a great choice of games, but they are free, might as well get it working right lol. And you still have a good 2 weeks before the MK8 promotion ends, so there's still time to get them to fix it for you.

@gunwoopak: Did you link your Club Nintendo account to you Wii U? It explains how here but basically you find the settings on your Wii U's eshop and type in your Club Nintendo account. If you didn't do that before downloading Mario Kart 8, then try the help form http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/webform/?o1=58&r=1 and describe the problem. They should fix it for you and let you pick your free game (one of the drop down bars lets you pick 1 of the 4). Just make sure you link your Club Nintendo to your eshop before donwloading the free game so you can get those coins on Club Nintendo (because that's more potential free stuff).

What do you mean? The digital deluxe promotion is supposed to link to your Nintendo ID, and your Club Nintendo account links to your Console. So if you download a game it would show up on both the promotion and Club Nintendo. The promotion doesn't have to link directly to Club Nintendo. It shows up on the promotion because it's used on your Nintendo ID.

So, if you register your Mario Kart 8 on Club Nintendo and complete the survey about the game, that lets you pick your free download code. And if you download it to your console, the digital deluxe promotion sees that as a digital purchase and gives you the points for that Nintendo ID. So you don't have to worry about deleting the account or anything.

@Sanic Yeah, I thought of that after I typed this, but I wasn't sure as I haven't redeemed anything from Club Nintendo, but good to know it works the same way.

It works with any game, even Club Nintendo stuff.
With the credit I received I bought 1001 Spikes for my 3DS.
