I didn't quite understand that but.. short explaination of how they work:
Whatever you put in [Apperance] no matter how many times the item has been fused, is what the one you insert into [Function] will look like. Stats are never transfered, just how they look. You cannot fuse gender specific items (Male) to (Female) as an example. You can however fuse gender neutral items onto either Male or Female equips. The item also has to be in the same cateogory. Ex: Hat > Hat is OK. Top > Overall will NOT work. etc.
Example: You have in your inventory a Sweetwater hat, that has been fused to look like a Blue Maple Bandana. You purchase a CRA hat and you'd like to move over the looks of the Blue bandana to your new hat. Put the SW Hat(that looks like a blue bandana) into [Appereance] and your new CRA hat into [Function] and the end result will be a CRA hat that looks like a blue bandana. No stats are transfered.
Anvils only deal with appearance. You can make one item look like another, no stats will be transferred.
