Arthur the reason you wait is because there's a glitch with the drops and only drops after 30minutes of being in the final cave. It's the same with chaos Horntail you need 12 people present for the drops to occur.

@TangleViper: I Disagree with this... HT never cast seduce on me within those time periods you are mentioning, also I've had an instance where I was seduced 12 times in a row. (I survived luckily)

@Phenomenal: I highly suggest you have Hero's will maxed, Advanced Final Attack maxed, and do you have Enrage maxed? (Because that to is amazing).
To answer your question whether you have enough range or not, I'm not sure I never was able to attempt horntail when my range was that.

Some tips:
-I'm not sure if it's just me but I have a slight skill lag, similar to that of PVP, and I figured out the closer you are to the pre-heads the less "laggy" it is.
-You can stand behind the head where there's a portal. (I usually just get on the very edge and attack horntail with no problems.
-Both left and right pre-heads seduce but nothing to major to worry about. (Note: Mobs are your best friends when your seduced)
-Try to time your magic crashes. I was able to kill both heads in about 1-2 minutes for each head without getting seduced or weapon cancelled.
-For full body I usually start at the legs on the left side but that's just me.
-After that i stand in the center of horntail's body and hit the tail.
-I don't know how other people solo considering I don't do all damage caps, but I usually debuff enrage and hit the left arm and wings at the same time.
(Note: When hitting arms that will trigger alot of seducing try to know when the right time is to hero's will, if you have it, you don't want to use hero's will to early and regret using it later than you should have. AND again mobs are your best friends when your seduced)
-After I do wings/left arm I go straight to the right arm (Since I'm not pro and wait for the timer I usually just get rid of all possibilities of being seduced, less chances of dying so why not)
(Note: It might have been mentioned on this thread but rebuffing on the rope pretty low where the mobs are touching you is a good way to avoid being controlled by seduce, meaning you wont go jumping around and moving left/right of the map. And if the mobs are hitting you while your seduced on the rope nothing to big to worry about when it comes to 1/1's)
-After the seduce arms are down um I usually just play it by ear. I usually go for whatever head isn't weapon canceled, and I usually just switch from one head to the other.
-Left/right head both can 1/1 so be cautious of that.
-Left head is a pain sometimes because when it attacks you miss it, and there aren't any platforms to stand on to hit 100% of the time.
-Right head you can stand on a platform on the right of it kind of below it. You can hit it 100% of the time.
-A platform above that you can actually hit the middle head and the right head at the same time.
-That same platform you can use it to hit the middle head 100% of the time. If you use the upper most platforms usually you'll miss hitting him while he attacks.
-Middle head debuffs be cautious of that.
-One frustrating mobs horntail summons are Black Wyverns... if they attack you with their magic attack they will debuff you </3 I usually take them out right away.

Other Notes:
-In order to attempt to get onto the list you have to have the horntail badge or have someone with the badge "smuggle" you in.
-In order to get on the horntail list you have to be the first 30 people in either channel 8 or channel 9 after a server check. Getting on the list pretty much means getting inside the first cave where the right pre-head spawns. They do not share lists so technically 60 people can sign up.
-Re-entering doesn't count as another slot on the list being taken away. So not to worry if a group of 6 people get in twice. They're only each counted once.

-For drops:
If you have less than 6 people you have to wait 30minutes from the time you entered the FINAL CAVE (Full body cave area) for the drops to well... drop. Example: If you entered the full body cave at 1:00 (1 hour) then you wait until 30:00 (30 minutes) to kill horntail for the drops. I would normally wait a minute or two from that initiated time just to be safe.
If you have 6 people or more you can easily just do a horntail speed run and get drops instantly. (I'm sure if it would work if you have more than 6 but it should, I haven't gone on a horntail run with more than 6 people)

-For potions I would recommend using power elixers (100%) because after a seduce you want to have full health just in case you get seduced immediately after.

That should be it, I believe. If there's anything I missed or you have question do feel free to ask. And if I did miss anything I'm sure some pro person would respond to what I'm missing.

No. You'd need quite a bit of a higher range and you need to have maxed afa and enrage.

@aoebm: Yes, especially with the % boss damage, it helps a lot. After 100% PDR anything extra is useless, you can't ignore more of what isn't there.

Heroes don't even need to do that...I think I have like 8k HP or something left after 1/1 anyways.

Despite that it's pretty nice to learn how to do what TangleViper mentioned. If you know when seduce is coming just hang on the rope and get hit by the summons (that you hopefully didn't kill) and you will never die.

For Heroes you don't even need to read when to 1/1 because self recovery gives you the mp to use it after you get 1/1'd.

So you're basically opting to avoid seduce regardless... Why work harder for that when you can just lag the game.
I mean if you want to risk missing timings & having Hero's Will on CD and consider that fun, by all means be my guest but I'd rather take the guaranteed route

doesn't hold alt+enter make u dc? I don't like seduce when it come to bossing cus bosses do 1/1 and rock drop on u= instance die. Any tips on avoiding SED? I got 98 willpower and hero will. Atm, im trying to get less seduce when it come to killing bosses

The first time I soled it I had about a 30k range, granted though I had all my important skills maxed out. It took a little under 30 minutes, I didn't really time it thought but it didn't drop any stuff. What I did was start at in between his legs focusing on the tail and feet. Once the tail is gone I work the right side of its body standing on a platform where I hit the Arm, Feet, and Wings. The feet should go out first then the wings leaving you with the arm, this is when I Enrage and take out the arms and then work around the heads whenever the cancel weapon attack until its dead.. You really shouldn't need Hero's Will if you leave the summons alive they usually get to you fast enough to keep you very much alive. I think you could do it with 25k range, when I first did it I only had 10% boss damage from my Demon Slayer.

I haven't maxed it yet because I actually quit a while back and i had most of my other skills maxed, Atm i'm only borrowing my bro equips, I only have 1m left T_T and I see i guess i'll try it once I get AFA30 and a few more levels and try to get up to a 30k self buffed range ;3

I'm was saying without rage because they said Rage stacked with everything ;o and i thought it would've been lower because from what i heard you needed a 35k range before we got the buff ;o

I don't think rage changed yet...not sure, haven't looked at rage skill info in a while
