Farm Firebrand badges. They give materia orbs as a reward sometimes.
That allows you to skip the glimmer man's quest.
Just talk to the ITCG npc in NLC after receiving an orb.
He lets you choose from a bunch of weapons including the dagger.
I was originally too lazy to type that out but hope I helped
Edit: you need to trade firebrand badge X1 to Joko for a chance to get an orb!

Everything is out of date, you can trade badges for itcg materials to craft the equipment. More specifically I need to know which materials to farm. Thanks for the Glimmer Man tip, that should hopefully help me find out what to do!

You also need to talk to the itcg NPC in NLC after you receive a Materia Orb.
