Well, I heard from several people that they get their coins by leveling their professions which also gains you 15 coins (I think?) if maxing it out. Doing this would cost a bit of mesos though.
I'm doing Gaga's quests while roughing up Rudolph for 3 coins every few minutes. I've also been collecting lots of buttons. After I'm done with Gaga's I'll lvl professions for a bunch more.
