[header=1]Introduction[/header]

This is still, in my opinion, the best ever description of the I/L Magician, quoted from abakre2 's guide.

"Bam. With the first cast, blizzard showers on the monsters. A skele is left soon to be totaled with a quick shock of chain lightning. Repeat. With pure elegance the I/L Arch Mage grinds showing off his flashy skills. One by one the attacks resemble mighty speed. Not the feel of power but the feel of accomplishment. The glowing timeless staff waving around, the technique is what we make of an Ice Lightning Magician. A staff is at times similar to a sword. Not a weapon but an extension and to master the skills one must learn.

The art of Magic is not a gift but a talent."

[header=3]AP Distribution[/header]

Luk Magician
Luk Magicians begin in the game as weaker than their Lukless and LowLuk counterparts. However, by level 200, a Luk Magician is slightly stronger than a Lukless or LowLuk Magician with no party buffs or Magic Attack potions.
Luk Magicians always keep their Luk 3 points higher than their level. This is required to wear Magician equips. The rest of their AP goes into Int.

Lukless Magician
Lukless Magicians begin in the game as stronger than their Luk and LowLuk counterparts. However, by around level 70, LowLuk Magicianswill begin to overtake them. At level 200, Lukless Magicians are stronger than Luk Magicians with several party buffs and a Magic Attack potion.
Lukless Magicians keep their Luk at the base of 5. They put ALL of their AP into Int. Some Lukless Magicians choose to get Luk equips, so that they may wear Magician equips that require Luk.

LowLuk Magician
LowLuk, arguably the best way to go, begins the game with medium damage. They overtake Lukless by around level 70, and by level 200, they have the potential to be the strongest Magician out of all 3 AP Distributions.
LowLuk Magicians add Luk like Luk Magicians until their Luk reaches a certain point, at which they cap it. The rest of their points the rest of the game go into Int. It is the choice of the Magician on where to cap Luk, but commonly, it is capped at 50.

Quiet, they aren't supposed to know!
Lol thanks though, typing error I guess. Either that or I was just totally spaced out when I wrote that section.

Lol, I hate Nexon's illusive responses. It's clear that the people answering tickets have to no real power or understanding in the company.
umm ty for guide? i am gonna make a i/l, lol
gonna get it to lvl 70on the first day if training places r open
I realize that the exp curve will make it easier to level, but you realize that will still take like 20 hours...? Seriously, the Big Bang is a great chance for us to start new if we want, but don't rush it. Enjoy playing while moderating your training.
It's probably more like a 80%-chance-per-button-push kind of thing, not a 80%-chance-per-hit thing. Still, even if the 80%'s did stack, the stun rate would not be 100%. Just quite close to 100%.
Close enough. The chances of 5 70% chances failing in a row is just under a third of a percent according the the scrolling reference. With 80%s, it'll be smaller still. It only further conributes to the theory that it'll be an 80% chance per cast, but anything can happen at this point. I hope for the sake of "freezing" with lightning that it really is per hit.

EDIT:
I did some research, and I saw TS fail to stun at 1:47 here and at 1:05 here. Ah well.

There is something wrong with your Third Job Build
The way you have it makes Teleport Mastery Max at Level 11 when Mastery Level is 10; same goes for Elemental Reset.
You have +1; +3; +3; +3; +1 = 11.
Just something about TS. IIRC, it hits five times per cast, so wouldn't the chance of a stun be much greater than 80%? I don't recall any multi hit skills having a concrete chance of stunning, but I'm not sure since it IS the BB patch.
I think it's just 80% altogether, not per hit. I might be wrong though.
Anyways, I'll use this guide as framework for rebuilding my ice lightning wizard after big bang, it's fairly decent and accurate.

My opinion on skills to drop:
First Job - Energy Bolt
Second Job - Cold Beam
Third Job - Elemental Composition

Energy Bolt is obvious. Cold Beam is basically replaced by Thunder Spear (counts as a single-hit freeze move basically, only it has 80% chance of stun instead). Elemental Composition is outdamaged by Thunder Spear, so the extra 20% to make a monster immobile is not worth it. Also, a HUGE limitation right now on Ele Comp AND Chain Lightning is that they are large damage-one hit skills. A magician could hit max damage with those skills and be wasting power, while they could be hitting 250k per hit with TS, and it would still outdamage the single-hit skill.

I'll fix the skill build and skill descriptions soon. And @j0s3a4d - Really, after those skills that you listed, no others are very important until you start to boss. You might want to pick a single attack skill to max, in my opinion Thunder Spear, if you want to vary your training while keeping the same speed.

@tazcrosblade: You also have Teleport Mastery for more stun, so there's really no point in having Cold Beam.

Shouldn't MP Increase give a 20% bonus to MP? Or maybe my memory from Tespia is a bit fuzzy.
Your memory is fine; MP Increase gives 20% bonus MP at max Level.
Cold beam not thunderbolt? It would seem like thunderbolt would be less useful in 4th job than cold beam?
And why ele comp? Doesn't that leave you with no single monster freeze?
Although I guess thunderspear beats ele comp, but again you would lack a single target ice skill, or is that not necessary because of chain lightnings damage?
Thunder Spear can stun, which is much better than freezing.

Really there is no practical use for a single target freezing move. As for Thunderbolt vs Cold Beam, I actually use Cold Beam more now, but that's just for the freeze when I want to use Thunder Spear instead of Chain Lightning, and once Big Bang hits, there is no use for it whatsoever. I would overall prefer Thunderbolt, just because I enjoy mob skills more than single target skills. Since you're already an Arch Mage, they're both useless, and it's about at decent as putting your dump points in Energy Bolt. I guess if you want to actually see the new Cold Beam more than like 2-3 times ever, you can put that instead, but for reference, especially for newer I/Ls, it's just much easier to put Cold Beam as the most useless of the 2nd job skills.
I pmed you about which skills could be dropped by someone who is only thinking of rushing to 4th job, or someone who is already a 4th job, and is sp reseting, maybe if you included a section on that, it could be helpful for people choosing alternate builds. Sort of an analization of each skills usefulness in 4th job, if any.

Also, at the end of each job, maybe give a quick rundown of the total points in each skill for a quick read, sort of like

Magic Claw MAXED
Magic Armor MAXED
Magic Guard MAXED
Mp Increase MAXED
Energy Bolt 7

Not in order or anything, but a quick rundown for people you know?
For any I/L whatsoever, I would recommend dropping Energy Bolt in 1st job, Cold Beam in 2nd job, and Elemental Composition in 3rd job.

@tazcrosblade: I think the way he has it set-up already fits a 4th jobber interest.
A 4th Jobber would only care about these Skills from the previous Jobs:
1st Job: Magic Guard, Magic Armor and MP Increase, which are all maxed.
2nd Job: Slow, Meditation, Magic Mastery, Teleport and MP Eater which are all maxed. Maybe emphasize MP Eater>Cold Beam for those in 4th Job a little bit more.
3rd Job: Teleport Mastery, Ice Strike (?), Seal, Elemental Reset, Booster and Elemental Resistance for Zakum (?), which are all maxed (but Resistance).
FYI: (?) = Maybe

OT: What does Seal do exactly?
My i/l Mage is Level 92 right now so I will have Ice Strike, Amplification, Tele Mastery all maxed when the Big Bang comes.
I am kind of stumped as to what max after Booster which would be Level 17 when the Big Bang gets here.
You suggest Seal, but if it only stops monsters from attacking you wouldn't that slow training to the cost of pot-saving?

@zacmur - It's cool, negative comments are helpful. Wierd... why did I do that. -.-

@iMocha - Magic armor, at lower levels, will be more helpful than Magic guard. And at higher levels, it will still be quite useful. The new Max MP skill raises your total MP by a percentage instead of raising the amount you get each level up, so you don't have to fret about maxing that first anymore. And I max that before Magic Guard so that you have enough MP for Magic guard to be useful.
And no doubt I have other mistakes, it's only human, but it's somewhat rude of you to say that I did something wrong when you haven't even found it.
