Need chemistry help Balancing Redox equations Okay, so I know that you start by removing the spectator ions that don't change oxidation number and then you split into half equations and then proceed to balance ions and so forth as necessary and then you add those two half equations together for your final equation but in some of the balancing questions I've done, you put the spectator ions back into your final equation? When will I know when to do that.

I fail :P ) So, I'm doing all the Cos, Sin and Tan crap but I never actually figured out : What does the answer for cos(x), sin(x), etc actually represent? (I know the number in the bracket is the angle of the triangle) And in what situation would I have to use cos/sin/tan^-1 ( x ) Last (Hopefully) but not least : What does it mean to change the degrees to true bearings? (Like, N14°W into a true bearing)

Need help Mathsss (Quadratic equation) So I just started on the Quadratic equation chapter and well, I have no idea what to do :| The [i]very[/i] first question is to solve the following equations : -insert lots of questions- The first one is x^2 + 8x + 15 = 0 My friend did teach (or force) the quadratic formula into my head if that helps. x = -b -+ square root of b2 - 4ac / 2a (Basil doesn't let me do the square root symbol :< ) I'm assuming the first expression, x (or x^2?) is a, 8 (or is it 8x?) is b and 15 is c. Title was supposed to be "Need help with maths....like alot" Need help with a few questions How do you properly factorize these (Please explain the steps :) ) pq - 5r^2 - r + 5pqr I got to 5r(pq+r)-1(r-pq) but then I have no idea what to do. According to the back of the book, the answer is (5r+1)(pq-r) uv-u + 9v-9 Completely clueless on this one. For this question, I got an answer but I'm wondering if I worked it out right a^2-b^2 + 5a-5b (a^2-b^2) + (5a-5b) (a-b)(a-b)+5(a-b) My answer : (a-b)(a-b+5)
Help with proportional stuff (Maths) What the heck does proportional mean? The very first question is "If m is a direct proportion to n (It's actually just a proportional sign with n after) and m = 3 when n = 12, what is the value of the constant of proportionality?" and I'm completely stumped :(
Can someone explain this? (Maths help) How does factorizing (x-4)^2 - 9 turn into (x-1)(x-7) and ax - ay + bx - by turn into (x-y)(a+b) I couldn't find anything in the chapter explaining how to do this, (I looked the answers up in the back after I gave up)
So today at school, one of my friends left his school email account open so my other mate went on it, typed "I am gay" as a message and sent it to everyone (Literally everyone, Staff, Counselors, even the wee little year 1s) At first, we were laughing about it (even my mate who's email it was was cracking up as well) until we found out the counselors actually thought he was serious and offered him counseling at which point we were eating lunch and half of us spat out whatever we were eating and were on the brink of actually rofl'ing. Needless to say, my mate who typed the email has 2 saturday detentions (Yes, saturday) and is in some serious crap. No offense to any gay people on basil :3
