Why would people do this?
The other day I was doing an event on my level 81 DS around Henesys (the one where you collect 50 drops for a Jett badge and belt). The map was empty when I got there and the spawn rate was decent, so I started killing the monsters. After a while, a level 2x magician showed up and he started killing as well. I wasn't ksing anyone or accidentally killing anyone else's monsters. I was just minding my own business. Then the level 2x magician walked up and said, "Ranned, nobody cares about your damage" Why would he assumed that I was showing off my damage? I have no equips or whatsoever on my DS and her damage wasn't that good anyways. After I told him that I was actually collecting some items for the event, he ignored me Later that day, I ran into him again on my cannon trooper on the same map and he said the same thing again Why would people assumed that a higher level player on a random low level map means that he/she is showing off his/her damage? I might be doing some low level quests you know?

It is unfortunate, but this is the result of how kids have overhyped dmg range on higher lvl players. They assume the higher the lvl, the better the dmg, the community is somewhat in disarray with how some people become stronger or simply do not know how to tell the difference anymore. You can blame all the people who bully lower lvls because of dmg and inexperience in game as well as trying to force the trolling into the new player base to discriminate against those who have done nothing wrong... Much like what is going on here. They discriminate against the higher lvl players perhaps because they may have had a bad experience with the high lvl players in the past or are close-minded, thinking all high lvl players will harass them for being weak, or that they do nothing but show off.
There is nothing you should do except ignore them and change channels. Nothing productive or positive will result in further confrontation or rational reasoning with players like this. There are some who you may gain respect from if you help them with something, but if there are those trying to cause confusion or unnecessary drama, then it is best just to leave them be and continue whatever it was you were doing. Do not worry yourself over such a matter, it happens to a lot of us.

ugh...I am doing that quest for the secondary stat requirements on all my characters but yeah, one of those moments when you just want to say, "HUH?"

@Rann: It's just that the Maplestory community is pretty bad, so when these things happen most people just accept them as part of it.. There's no real solution to it.
