Social GM vs. Secret GM

Basically I want to know what people think of these two different types of moderation. I will explain both below.

Secret GM - Currently used in MS
The GMs play God, they maintain order but do so without being seen. They do not socialize, if they are forced to they will often give a "professional" sounding statement. Effective yes, but it often gives the feel that GMs are doing nothing.

Social GM - Seen more in games with lower popularity
The GMs are very social, they still do their job but they make sure everyone knows they did it. They will often small talk with the players in very casual way ( slang, possibly improper grammar at times). They know the server and the players well. Less effective as Secret GM as time spent socializing is wasted time but it does boost the player base's moral. Also a problem is that if the GMs know a group too well they may look the other way while they do something against the rules.
----
I am really curious to what people think if MS switched to "Social" style of GMs. As of right now I can see GMs doing their jobs (the bots in the fm change every hour because they are getting banned) but you really have to look to see that they are doing it, while a normal passer by will just see a bot and complain that the GMs are not doing their jobs.

I think once maplers stop being such !@#$%%bags and stop asking for stuff from GM's and trading them saying, "Mesarz Pl0x," then the gm's can indulge in a bit of intelligent conversation and not being traded every second by noobs. Similar to bee's (maplers) being attracted to honey (gm's). I doubt they enjoy being asked for stuff like the parent of a hyper 4 year old with ADHD (no offense to anyone with that). Although it is natural to be excited when a gm reveals himself, don't be just another stupid mapler.

I'd prefer if they had some of both.

GMs have better things to do than talk to 14 year old kids that beg for items 24/7. I'd rather have GMs patrolling for hackers (which they always do, contrary to popular opinion) than them being subjected to the begging of 50+ kids at a time.

Secret ones would be fine if they actually did their jobs. When they do come out to "socialize" instead of saying anything interesting, they say crap like "i like pie." I personally don't give a rat's behind about their personal lives. I would rather know what, if anything, is being done to fix the crap going on in this game. I understand if it's better if they don't give details about what they're doing. An approximate timeframe would be nice, as well as a simple list of things that they're trying to address at the moment.

We don't even need active GMs for this though. Something simple on the website would suffice. Tell us what they're aware of. What they are actually working on, etc. Why they aren't working on other things that are bothering so many players. Nexon needs to realize how important communication skills are to a healthy business.

i think they should have some of both... that way people see the GMs, and they get their jobs done

Then there is Nexon. No GMs.

OT: I like social GMs but if they get to social then they can't do their job as effectively.

The answer is: a GM
I wouldn't care as long as I knew there was a GM, social or secret, but seeing how many bots are there...
