Another copy of MapleStory is already running

I'm coming back to the game after like almost a year. I opened the game for it to get patched (silly me), but it didn't so I had to reinstall the game (as expected). Redownloaded and reinstalled it on the same folder as the old MS was, I didn't delete the old one. Once installed, I tried to open it, but I got this message:

HackShield Initialization Error : 0x00000207(519)

Another copy of Maplestory is already running. Please
close all instances and try launching again.

Please send the detailed information through
AhnReport

I never got any AhnReport window (as I remember it used to appear), but didn't mind. I first thought it was because I didn't remove the old folder, so I uninstalled the game and went to C/: to delete the remaining files (I remember there always were some remaining files after uninstalling), but I didn't find any, which I found cool. Anyways, I emptied the recycle bin just in case and reinstalled the game.

Surprise, I got the same message again... Anybody else experiencing this? Anyone who can help me out? Please

Well, that might be in a couple of days, I'm feeling frustrated right now, hahaha. Thanks for the help, anyways
Are you trying to play on a virtual machine? Are you playing in the wrong country? Is your game set in the wrong compatibility mode? Did you end all maple related tasks in task manager? Are you running as administrator?
Uhm, yeah. I used to play in VMware Fusion 5.0 and found a thread that showed how to play MS in a virtual machine (changes were made in the Windows OS itself) and it worked pretty fine for me, I had been able to play MS in VMware Fusion for a really long time. Just short ago I updated to OS X Yosemite so had to get VMware Fusion 7.
Never had problems with the country.
Compatibility mode? What's that?
Haven't tried the task manager thing yet, but I don't really think that's the problem. I uninstalled and restarted Windows before reinstalling. I'll try it anyways.
As administrator? In Windows? Well, yeah, it's the only session.

I find that either opening a task manager and closing whatever maplestory program is still open resolves that issue OR you just restart your computer. Not sure of anything else that would apply to this situation
