Does crimson balrog even spawn on the ship anymore, or is it random?

It spawns. Not every time, but it does. Doesn't matter if from Vic to Orbis or Orbis to Vic. You do, however, have to wait for it. It could either spawn 10 seconds into the flight or 2 minutes after. Sometimes it won't. Just be patient.
