You can kill it at pretty much any range on Zero. You just need skill. If you don't have that then yea, you'll need a helluva range.

think you're doing something wrong bc it takes me just ~15mins with a range half of yours on my zero
anywhere from between 50-100k range alpha.
Depends on your level of skill as well as %boss.
