Thunderbreaker

Control at Gollux

First of all, where are all the TBs!?! I hope this forum isn't dead >.< Anyways, I started playing a TB in Reboot and I'm loving it! Mobbing is really easy and bossing is okay, too, but one place where I struggle is Gollux. I've got 200k buffed range and soloing isn't a problem (I've only done Easy Gollux, so far) but while chaining Thunderbolt+Annihilate, it's really hard to avoid the breath attack or w/e you call it since it takes a second longer to cancel the chained attack. I always try to rush to the other side using Ascension+Thunder but most of the times, I'm a second too late. So far I've only done easy so it's not much of a problem, but once I start doing harder difficulties, it's gonna get annoying. Would really appreciate your advice, guys! And also, why does the damage of most of the attacks reduce per line?

throw in some tidal crash and try to use flash back at where you initiated if you can

You could also just use the wave skill in second job (tidal crash) to avoid gollux or try to use the skill "flash" and move to the other side.

Use Annihilate + Lightning Punch so you aren't stuck in animation when you need to be moving.
Use Tidal Crash to dodge.
If you are very confident, try and squeeze in Thunderbolts when possible.
If it's too difficult, just stick with Annihilate + Lightning Punch.

The reason why people use Tidal Crash rather than Ascension + Thunder for dodging is because Ascension + Thunder has a slow start. Tidal Crash happens almost instantly whereas Thunder, you have to wait to be airborne to use the skill.
This is also why people favour rush/teleport skills over flash jump for bosses where you need to dodge.

@star909 Thanks for clearing up the damage reduction thing! Wasn't aware that the shadow clone does only 45% of original damage.
@xenophobicable I'll give that combo a try!
@ihatecatsongs I feel like the wave attack is slow when compared to Ascension+Thunder but I guess I just need practice since everyone uses that.
Thanks a lot for your help, guys! Glad to see people still playing this awesome class.

The way I golluxed on tb in reg server is basically do 2 or 3 combos of annahalate and thunderbolt, then wait for him to do the breath and when he shows he is gunna I would do the wave one to whoosh to the other side and do another 2 or 3. The thing is he never spams the breath, so if you just do the 2 or 3 whatever you're comfortable with then wait, you can get to a point where you only have to wait 1 sec tops so won't affect dps much.

Hey, as a fellow TB in reboot, lvl 206 to be exact. thunderbolt+Annihilate is really slow imo, try switching to annihilate+sharkjaw(the 1st job skill) it gets your annihilate out way quicker. Also as the person above said, using ur rush skill is great way to dodge as long as you can time it right.

You could use the wave skill in 2nd job to chain into
and im not 100% sure what you mean by damage reduction (your shadow clone bootleg only does 45% of your original damage)
